We stayed here for a week with our bub, the hotel was majestically beautiful, so much work involved to keep it running and maintained, it's huge and definitely a classic.
We found the staff were great, from the check-in until departure.
I didn't find one staff member who was not unfriendly, all greeted us warmly every day, and were helpful which made it easier with our 9 month old.
I had a hand with the luggage, fast check-in, lovely dinners, huge delicious afternoon tea and breakfasts.
The room had a beautiful view of the forest and hills and it was warm so we had the window open nightly. The bathroom was separate and huge with a great bath. All modern fixtures and freshly painted.
The pool and the spa, the plunge pool and the hot rooms in the spa were wonderful to use now that the pool has been repaired.
A few minor issues, broken shower clip for the shower head should be replaced, not taped. Drink orders at the restaraunt were only taken with dinner orders, we would have preferred to have drinks ordered before food, after being seated and as it was so hot in the dining room, water should be on the tables straight up, we had to ask three times the last night for example.
House white wines by the glass were not cool, quite tepid, and it seems more staff should be be on service for dinner, sometimes we got dinner rolls, sometimes not. So apart from that, the food was wonderful, I asked for a special order in advance and the chef made it wonderfully.
The last few days the glass over the disabled ramp was being removed so we couldn't get the pram down the ramp, so maybe some signage or extra help while the workmen blocked the ramp off would be helpful.
Parking was tight but the overflow area was good, I think it would help if guests actually parked in between the parking lines, not always over two spaces, that would solve some hassles.
So if you appreciate classic elegance, beautiful gardens and estate walks, you will enjoy a hospitable stay here. We walked after dinner and saw deer twice, do have a look at the herb garden and you might be lucky also to see deer!

Room Tip: Book a standard room on the second floor for the best combination of views and comfort for a reasonable price. Half board is an excellent value option.

I am delighted you found our hotel so wonderfully relaxing and to be of best quality. Both myself and the team do work very hard to deliver what we strive for as genuine Scots Hospitality. It is so easy to leave negative feedback following a bad experience but I do so appreciate when a customer takes time and trouble out of their busy schedules to celebrate success.

Many thanks once again

Kieran

We decided to treat ourselves for an overnight stay in April of this year (2014) and chose the Atholl Palace in Pitlochry. On arrival it looked stunning with wonderful gardens. The inside was just as good with roaring log fires and traditional decor. Staff very friendly and a wee dram on arrival. The evening meal was fantastic with a lovely view of the Tay Valley through huge windows. Only a couple of down points we couldnt open the window in our room but as were on the second floor its probably some health and safety related issue. One of the reasons we booked the Atholl was the indoor swimming pool only to receive an e mail the night before the visit stating the pool was closed due to a leak! Bit late to book anything else. But overall a very pleasant stay. Would stay again but only if the pool gets fixed!

Room Tip: try and get a room higher up for better views

After a thousand mile drive for a week around Scotland we had time to draw breath with a two night stay at the Atholl Palace. Comfortable rooms in a beautiful setting and the food was reasonable for such a large hotel. The only disappointment was the closure of the pool, which also meant no sauna or steam room which we had been looking forward too, and the spa was fully booked despite trying to book a couple of weeks prior to arriving.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a 'room with a view' so up on the first second floor and above ideally.

A nice hotel with lovely grounds and in a beautiful location. Our one night stay was part of a trip up to the Outer Hebrides. The hotel itself was a lovely place to stay and we were greeted on our arrival with a nice glass of liquer which was very nice. The room was very nice comfortable and clean though the pillows were way too large and didn't make for a comfortable night's sleep. We had a bar meal in the lounge and the food was fine but eating on the low tables was very awkward. My main complaint about the place was I was asked to move my car from the front car park to make room for some people with aston martins. I am afraid this made us feel like we were second class guests and this will make me think twice about staying here again. This my main reason for a low rating.

Thanks for staying with us during your Scottish adventure. I am sorry over the mix up regarding parking as the team should have closed of a specific area for the cars prior to your arrival. There was never any intent to make you feel less valuable than any other guest so please accept my apologies and I hope you enjoyed the remainder of your tour

The hotel and it´s personal was great , more than we expected , we were 11 men , travelling for the eight time to Pitlochry and Scotland and all of us thinks that this hotel was one of the best we ever stayed in , nice breakfast , lots of space and fine views over the valley from the restaurant that almost take the breath from us.
The spa-area was closed wich we had an e-mail couple of days before we arrive , but for us it doesn´t matter , hope it´s open next time.
We definitly will come back next time we´re going to Scotland and Pitlochry
