Worst experience ever. Got put into a room that was so small with a 3/4 double bed no way two adults could sleep in it. Got moved to another room - it was slightly better this time they had pushed two 3/4 double beds together, but you fell through the space if you got too close. The room was so cold - radiator didn't work and the electric heater didn't heat the room, bathroom was freezing with no curtains and broken floor tiles. The floor in the room was so uneven that the furniture wasn't flush with the walls and looked like it would topple over, and to top it all the smoke alarm was right above the bed and flashed red lights all night. The whole hotel is dated, cold and not welcoming. you have to run the gauntlet of the smokers at the front door to ge in. The breakfast is ment to run until 10am at 9:15 they had taken away most of the buffet breakfast and it was table service, ordered cooked breakfast and it was the smallest breakfast I have every seen. Tried the adjoining bar/grill almost fell trying to get from hotel to bar as no lights and same in the bar 1 or two ceiling lights were on room light by candles. The bar was full of workmen and the language wasnt the kind I wanted to listen to while eating dinner. We didn't eat in the hotel as we couldn't find out what was availble in the restaurant - they hid the menu in different places! Then there is the free WIFI or rather lack of it never worked the few days we were here. Reception staff didn't seem to know how a hotel works one booking per room is the norm but they were giving room keys to other guests when they had a guest already staying in that room. Apparently this hotel is under renovation if this is the case close it until you have got a decent hotel that people will be happy to pay to stay in. instead you are playing at being a hotel. Not a good experience and will definately not be back and the only recommendation I would give is do not go to this Hotel.

Room Tip: Go to another Hotel

We ended up in Pitlochry pretty much as a last minute thing; we had been let down by another hotel that had double-booked, and decided to stop off at Pitlochry en-route further North. After a couple of disappointments trying to get in elsewhere, I overcame what I am sure from memory had been uninspiring 'word-of-mouth' reviews of the place … I really shouldn't have worried!

Bearing in mind this was a busy Saturday night, the reception staff were excellent and invited us to view a couple of rooms before deciding. On seeing them it was an easy decision; both rooms were huge, warm, clean and comfortable … and given that this was a 'one-night' place to get our head down, we had no hesitation on taking a room right away! Not only that, but it was fantastic value for money, we each got a free dram there and then, and the breakfast was plentiful and more than acceptable. Crucially, after a great night out (there was a good band playing at one of the local bars), it was back to the hotel which is right in the centre of the main street for a fantastic night's sleep in a very comfortable bed.

More than happy with the place, and would have no qualms about staying there again ...

Booked last minute for a very much needed weekend away to . I wasn't holding out hope for anything amazing but the the welcome we got as we arrived late off a train was just lovely. (The hotel is about 2 minutes from the train station) We were offered a complimentary dram and we went up in the lift to a lovely, cosy, comfy, quiet first floor room. Beautiful enormous Victorian Hotel, right on the high street. From a busy bar with kareoke to quiet dining by a log fire and most of all lovely, friendly staff. Well done. We will be back to do more hill walking and we will use you as our base.
