“Enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

We booked a double room with only a couple of weeks notice for a Saturday night get away. Our room, while comfortable was a bit tired and maybe not worth the best part of £80. It was on the top floor above the bar and next to the road. There was no problem with noise or anything else but certainly lacked a bit of quality for the cost. I am aware they have better rooms than this so our late booking may have resulted in us receiving a lower standard of room.

The bar however is a lot more comfortable and the food is also very good.

Although maybe a mile from the centre of town, it isn't too far to walk.

We stayed at the moulin on the 5 night winter warmer deal, amazing value for money. The room was of a good standard and suited our needs perfectly.

We ate in the baron four nights and the food w as excellent .

On,y 10 mins walk to pitlochery so well situated for exploring the area. Good mountain bike rides all around, nice run to house of Braur via Killicrankie and monies.

Some of the TA reviews are very critical, however we experienced only great service in a typical country inn.

Will definitely be back.

Thanks for a great stay

Room Tip: We were in room 1 at the back of the hotle so had the sound of the stream all night which I found so...

On recommendations from information centre went for lunch old fashioned bar quite small however lovely coal fire pleasant staff and enjoyed a lovely lunch also serve gluten free food prices I felt a tad dearer than other hotels but you know this before you order only gripe was table a bit small to get everything at hand had to put condiments on the floor but no great hardship would certainly visit again

Six of us booked up for a three night stay over New Year.
The Bar is a fantastic place to sit in front of a log fire and drink real ale.
The 4 real ales on sale are all made next door in their own brewery and all are tasty stuff.
The food at breakfast was good and freshly made to order.
The dinners in the evening were excellent quality, tasty and plenty to eat.
The entertainment was good but the limited size of the function room doesn't allow for much dancing - especially on old years night when it was busy.
The rooms are a bit dated but very warm and comfortable. You wouldn't expect a hotel which is over 300 years old be ultra-modern and this is a great example of a proper highland hotel.
The staff were all great especially Gill who was very helpful and friendly.
The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from Pitlochry town center where there was no lack of dancing space as the main road is closed to traffic to allow the New Years day street party - Fantastic.

We'll be back....

Didn't stay in the hotel. Had a lovely walk up here from Pitlochry on boxing day, the sunniest day of the xmas week. Had phoned to make sure they were open as a lot of the town was still closed.
Enjoyed a couple of the local brews. The bar area and dining areas are a bit cramped and has always been busy on previous visits with good food.

We stayed 5 nights at the Moulin Hotel over Christmas. The bar and food was lovely. Best mince and tatties ever. Excellent service from everyone including wait staff, cleaners, receptionists. The decor was a bit dated in the room but it was clean and tidy and plenty of tea and coffee and chocolates. Christmas brekkie included bucks fizz, crackers, chocolates and a full Scottish brekkie what more could you want?

Another most enjoyable stay at the Moulin - we keep on coming back. Still as charming and friendly as ever. The accommodation is very comfortable and the open fires give the bar a cosy atmosphere. The bar menu was varied and the food tasty, washed down with excellent beer from the micro-brewery - Old Remedial especially recommended!
