Moulin Hotel

We found this hotel on honeymoon by mistake 6 years ago and have been in love with it ever since. We were booked elsewhere in Pitlochry and were miserable. Thank goodness the Moulin found us and saved our honeymoon.
The pub and hotel have a quaint village feel to the place and we have never felt anything but welcomed by the friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant food is excellent, as is the breakfast. Breakfast and evening meals are accompanied by the sound of the gentle stream and the sight of birds in the garden.
The rooms are in keeping with an old Scottish pub/inn and are clean, warm and inviting. We struggle to understand how people expect anything different from a 300yr old building. If you want modern, robotic service book a Travelodge. If you want something you'll remember with affection forever, come here. Please never change the Moulin. It is perfect.

I like Moulin Hotel and its inn. Food is good, customer service is good and its friendly. My kids had lovely meals and the ice cream was spot on. The brandy and wine was good and the fire was crackling away on a breezy spring afternoon Enough said!

Me and my boyfriend stayed there for two nights after unfortunate experience with Bridge Of Tilt Hotel. What a difference!!

Staff were very friendly, rooms were very clean, warm, spacious and nicely decorated. Bathroom was clean and had all the products you needed.

Breakfast was cooked and served with perfection :) lovely service.

We also had two meals in the bar and I must admit they were delicious! I would recommend lamb or rabbit - it arrived beautifully cooked - a real pleasure to taste.

I would definitely recommend it.

Characterful hotel with friendly staff and very comfortable rooms. I had been recommended the hotel by a friend and we found it ideal. Nice to be within easy distance of Pitlochry but not in the town itself. The hotel has a microbrewery with fine beers and a cosy bar. Food was tasty and not over-priced. Our room was a good size and had a nice comfortable bath.

Moulin Hotel, perched about a mile uphill from Pitlochry central and technically in the hamlet of Moulin, is around 350 years old. With that, you get the creaky stairs and hallways, the convoluted layout of the upper floor (now which way is it again that I turn at the top of the stairs?), the sense that a gargoyle might repose outside your window. On the other hand, age has its charms, and you also get the dark wood paneling, the quirky coziness, and the feeling that Bonnie Prince Charlie, or perhaps Queen Victoria herself, might have trod this staircase. The en-suite bathrooms are blessedly modern. Your room comes with full Scottish breakfast. The bustling restaurant offers excellent meals and is popular with the locals, including families with children. Wi-fi is available, but during my visit would connect only in the lobby.
Pitlochry, less than an hour's drive north of Perth, is a charming, semi-touristy town with lots of shops, restaurants, and inns, a small distillery on the outskirts, a challenging hillside golf course, a train station, a welcoming Church of Scotland, and a well-regarded summertime theatre. From Pitlochry one can explore in several directions, including westward into scenic loch country and north to the HIghlands and Speyside. If you're looking for a pleasant short holiday, or to stop off in mid-country Scotland, I recommend Pitlochry -- and the Moulin Hotel in particular.

Enjoy a drink and a meal in this 300 year old inn. A good atmosphere and log fires really make this bar a place to visit.the location is only ten minutes from Pitlochry and there are many walks around for all abilities.

Quick one night stay to recharge. Staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. Standard room (18) was both charming and spotless. Bed extremely comfortable with crisp bed linen. Ensuite was clean and well appointed. Additionally, the room being at the top of the Inn was peaceful, and had a lovely view of the courtyard and church. The Inn itself carries its 315 years well. It is both quaint and relaxing. The roaring log fires, the cosy bar frequented by both locals and visitors make this an enjoyable escape. Dogs, tired walkers, mountain bikers etc are all welcome. The bar food is good, the wine list excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. Value for money - excellent. Comfort and quality ensure that we will be returning for longer next time. Overall experience - wonderful.

Room Tip: Room 18 (standard room) top of Inn, peaceful, quaint with exposed beams and lovely view of courtyard...
