We stayed at this Hotel as part of my 50th birthday motorbike tour of Scotland, the hotel was lovely, the staff very helpful and welcoming and the breakfasts delightful, we will definetely be going back. Would recommend to anyone.

Just got back from another great stay at the Tigh Na Cloich Hotel in Pitlochry. Our second stay here in two years and it is just lovely. The views from the hotel are incredible. we adore Pitlochry, the perfect place to unwind and relax. I really love going out for a full day, come back shower, and come downstairs and enjoy Peter's delicious food. My boyfriend loved the local Venison, so tender and Helen just adds the finishing touch by making you so welcome. She gave us loads of ideas of what to see and do locally. This is a real family business who care, it is a very memorable place for us.

The Tigh Na Cloich is set back from the main road through Pitlochry, well signposted, easily accessed (although parking can be awkward at busy times) and provides an elevated view over the town.
Our welcome was warm enough although we were left to find the room by ourselves. We had booked a 'Superior' bedroom which would be difficult to fault; well-furnished, spotlessly clean, plenty of storage and very spacious. If there was any criticism, it would be the hard-lying provided by the bed, although this is obviously a personal observation and I have no doubt that many others would not fault it.

The bathroom was built under the stairway which ran external to the room. Unfortunately, the sloping headroom made negotiating entry to the bath a problem and use of the supplied shower head impossible without kneeling in the bath.

The Dining Room was satisfactory although breakfast seemed to be taken in hushed gloom - a criticism of the clientele rather than the hotel - and the breakfast itself was ample, varied and good quality. Where it fell down was at Dinner.

The Hotel boast the quality of the food but we found it very erratic in performance, e.g. a home-made pate was excellent , most meals were of an acceptable standard (no more) and a beef stroganoff delivered such a blast of concentrated, synthetic-tasting, alcohol in the sauce that my taste buds were still in shock several hours later.

All in all, a pleasant enough hotel but one that fails to live up to its claims for dining and which is over-priced as a result.

Had travelled to Pitlochry to visit The Enchanted Forest event and have an overnight stay but came away sorely disappointed with our experience at the Tigh Na Cloich. Initial impressions of the hotel from the outside were good - a lovely house with great views over the Perthshire hills. Unfortunately things went downhill as soon as we set foot inside. Our "welcome" was a bit frosty. Having waited around 5 minutes for anybody to answer our numerous doorbell rings, when the owner eventually appeared we got the impression that he had no idea we were expected. No introductory niceties of any sort and we were left to make our own way to our room with a comment along the lines of "it's up the stairs and to the right". The room (11) was not huge and was overly crammed with furniture leaving little space for our bags - it was a wet day and there wasn't even a hook on the door to hang up our wet jackets! Lighting was poor with no bedside lamps so were unable to read in bed. The bathroom was clean and bright and had obviously been recently refurbished but the shower was cramped in terms of headroom. I'm not excessively tall but could barely fit under the shower head even at its maximum height. Having hit my head on the edge of the bedside table, which on checking I discovered to overlap onto the bed by several inches (not very safe!), I spent a very uncomfortable night. The bed sloped, I assume due to an uneven floor, and I felt myself continually rolling into my partner. The room was also very warm and I was unable to adjust or switch off the radiator. Our breakfast experience was no better. When we went into the dining room there was only one table occupied, so we sat at a window table with a nice view. When the waitress arrived she informed us that we would have to move, as the table was reserved (although there was no reserved sign on it). We declined her suggestion to sit right next to the only other occupied table in the room and chose another table to give us some privacy. We have stayed at countless B&B's and are used to self service in terms of juices, cereals etc so had taken 2 glasses of juice, but it turned out that we had "broken the rules" as everything was waitress service. The cooked breakfast was good albeit the portions a bit small, and toast was one slice each! By the time we had finished our breakfast the dining room was almost full, but the atmosphere was terrible with hardly anybody talking. I wondered if everybody else was experiencing the same type of visit as us! We decided not to prolong our stay any longer and checked out. This time the lady of the house attended to us, but as with our arrival the exchange was very "businesslike" and cold. We weren't even asked if we had enjoyed our stay. Having visited numerous B&B's this was one of the worst we have experienced in terms of service. Reading the majority of the other reviews of the Tigh Na Cloich which give it 5 stars and talk of the service in glowing terms, I wonder if we were staying at the same place

We stayed at the Tigh Na Cloich Hotel for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Simple things like good quality sheets and towels make your visit more comfortable. Also the hotel was very clean and warm, everything you want!
We didn't eat dinner in the hotel but the breakfast was lovely. The amounts of each item did vary from plate to plate frustratingly.
If you're tall do check which room you're in - our shower had a VERY low ceiling. I'm only 6 foot, and I could stand, but had to bend to wash my hair.

We stayed here on the basis of recommendations on Tripadvisor and frankly it did not live up to expectation. The twin bedroom we had was very small. There was nowhere to open a suitcase other than in front of the bedroom door. The beds were small – admittedly I am very tall.. The bathroom was very nicely done, however, in the morning when I was having a shower the water stopped on 3 separate occasions and had very little pressure.

Dinner is served between 6:00 and 7:30 which is all rather too early for me. Dinner itself was nice if not a little pretentious with overly complicated sauces and as expensive as a central London restaurant which is not in keeping with a 3 star hotel in Pitlochry.

Fine for an overnight stopover but for once I’m not in agreement with the general tripadvisor opinion.

Having just attended a reunion in a large 4star Pitlochry Hotel where we were definitely not impressed we decided to move to a smaller Hotel and extend our stay in the area. What a breath of fresh air the Tigh-Na-Cloich proved to be. We recieved a very warm welcome and were shown to an excellent room which was very well presented in all aspects and the ensuite was very modern. Everything was spotlessly clean. The Hotel is small but in a good situation adjacent to the main town. It has a private car park and the views out to the front of the Hotel are super. If you are deciding where to eat in the evening you can forget going down town as the Hotel provides a "very good" three course dinner(Menu change every night) which is superbly cooked and presented by mine host Peter who is to be commended for his choice of menu. The place is licensed so you can enjoy a glass of wine and complete with having your coffee in the spacious lounge. The good choices at breakfast are served to table which is far better that a buffet type meal. All staff led by hosts Helen and Peter go out of there way to ensure your every comforts are catered for and there is no doubt this great little Hotel deserves another star ratiing!!! We were so pleased to have found Tigh-Na-Cloich and there is no doubt that when we return to this beautifull part of Scotland we will know exactly where to find a really great place to stay.
