“Golf and great food”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

We booked an overnight for Saturday for 3 couples with the intention of the 3 menfolk playing golf in the morning while the ladies went shopping in nearby Perth. The menfolk played golf but the ladies were so comfortable in the lounge bar that they were still there by the time we returned. We ended up spending the rest of the afternoon in the cosy lounge and then met up in the cocktail bar later for our meal in the dining room. The choice of meals were just great and all were very pleased with their choices.

This winter package of DB&B in a superior room was fantastic value and a very welcome winter break.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are good value and are in the process of refurbishment at the time of our visit.

Just home from staying for the weekend in one of the suites which are a 30sec walk from the main hotel building. The room was very clean, large and comfortable but felt that the furnishings could be a bit more updated. We had the six course taster menu in the Old Masters restaurant on the first night, which is a must to try as it was delicious. Go to Strutts bar and meet Stuart who attended to our every need. Only slight issue we had was at breakfast when my wife ordered scrambled egg well done and it had to go back as it was too watery and her plate was returned with no egg on the plate and she was told that the chef could make some more if she really wanted. This was all done without an apology. Apart from that we found all staff extremely helpful and friendly.

My wife and I spent two nights here between Christmas and New Year 2013 and found the staff to be very professional, very friendly and thoroughly up to the task of making us feel welcome. The accommodation (we were in the master suite, or room 2) was superb, with magnificent views across the golf course to the picturesque Perthshire hills, and at times we felt we had the hotel to ourselves. Throughout our stay nothing was too much to ask of the ladies at reception or the gents in the cocktail bar. The food was top quality and the waiting staff were super-professional. If you're looking for a relaxing break in Perthshire at a reasonable price, this magnificent country house hotel is within a few minutes of Perth and is, I think, worth a look.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the master suite - its view and the luxurious bathroom are very well worth it.

Had a very pleasant & relaxing light lunch here. We ate in the bar which has lovely views of the countryside and also you can relax on couches by the coal fire. The menu has a nice choice of light snacks/meals which all came nicely presented. The staff were very friendly and I would recommend this place to lunch if you feel the need to relax during a busy day.

I came here with my friends for business and it looked amazing on internet I drove up and it matched everything I was looking for however room was not nice and very tired and old fashioned and not to a good standard, service by miss mackintosh was awful in cocktail bar very rude talked down to us, we only managed 3 drinks in 3 hours, were not allowed to order steak from main restaurant into cocktail bar I could see why I could not eat a burger in main restaurant but the other way around is beyond me, bar bill wrong, ordered 2 deserts to taste both and waitress looked down on me and said you are ordering 2, yes that's right my dear I would like a choice!! My husband and I were treated to a 2 night stay at Murrayshall House Hotel from my sister and brother-in-law. They have been going for several years and always rated the hotel very highly. The location is in a beautiful setting with two adjoining golf courses. My husband enjoyed the two rounds of golf on Hogmanay and New Year's Day. The women had a fair walk to Scone village so be prepared with some good walking boots and suitable rainwear.
The hotel room was very nice and staff were very attentive at all times. Food was really excellent and plentiful with local produce on the menu.
The Hogmanay dinner was well organised and well presented. We ate in the Old Masters restaurant and moved to the Clubhouse for some dancing to a live band leading up to the "Bells". There are lovely roaring fires if you prefer to relax in comfortable surroundings.
The New Years' Day Brunch is a special treat, starting at 8:30am with pastries and croissants, all types of breakfast dishes and moving on to cold cuts with fabulous salads, fruits and special chef's desserts!
A lovely place to relax and chill out and dog lovers can even bring their pets with them!
