“Wonderful staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

We recently vacationed in Scotland and had the pleasure of staying at the Murrayshall. It is a stone's throw to Scone Palace, with 2 beautiful golf courses. The staff could not have been nicer. From breakfast through dinner, they were accommodating and thoughtful. I would stay here again!

Room Tip: Stay in the main building; the rooms have been renovated.

What an amazing, luxury hotel to stay. The surroundings and the views of the hotel is beautiful even all year round. The food is outstanding, can't complain about anything. Would very much highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay near Perth.

Stayed at Murrayshall House Hotel at the start of April. We booked a Juniour Suite, looking for a nice romantic night away. The suite was located in an annexe a couple minutes walk from the main building. It was a good size with a nice bedroom and bathroom however the lounge area was very old fashioned with stained seats and carpet. I think when providing a suite, assuming couples are looking for a romantic time away, that a couch would have been nice instead of two formal chairs that reminded me of a retirement home. The bathroom was very modern and bed very comfy. We went to the cocktail bar, limited list of cocktails, and very formal (stuffy) with extremely dated decor. The other bar was much less formal and far more comfortable. The hotel advertises in its welcome book as having 24 hour room service, however my partner tried phoning several times after 11pm to order some wine to our room and there was no answer. In the morning my partner went back over to the main hotel to buy some soft drinks but was told the bar was closed and he could not be served. Overall it was a nice stay but these few little issues could be greatly improved on.

We took advantage of an ITISON deal for this lovely hotel & we were very glad we did.
The Murrayshall is a beautiful building with country house interior set in beautiful grounds with beautiful views. There was a Junior Suite included in our deal. This was unfortunately not in the main building but in one of the annexe buildings that look like large houses from the outside. However, our suite/room itself was lovely. Large king size bed with lovely seating area overlooking one of the golf courses/ beautiful grounds. Modern bathroom (bath with shower over) with Elemis toiletries.
The 'suite' had tea/ coffee making facilities, iron/ironing board, trouser press, microwave, & TV. Incredibly quiet & felt like home away from home. Around a 5 min walk from the main hotel, so you can get a bit wet if it's raining.
Our deal included a 6 course tasting menu in The Old Masters Restaurant. We were asked to sit in the bar whilst we waited, & given some delicious canapés. Once in the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised to see a live harpist, which was a real treat. As for our meal, we just couldn't fault it. Absolutely fantastic. Each course was beautifully served, presented & absolutely delicious.
Wonderful to see old fashioned service where the waiters wear gloves & brush your table crumbs away using a special implement. Wine per glass was very reasonably priced, which makes a nice change.
Included in our deal was a bottle of Tattinger champagne, so asking for extra ice for this after our dinner was no problem at all. So we enjoyed sipping this in the privacy & comfort of our suite for the rest of the evening.
After sleeping well, we went for breakfast in the restaurant. Large choice of breakfast included several fresh fruit juices, cereals, fresh fruit, bread, cheese & yogurts, cooked breakfast was meat, vegetarian, kipper or smoked haddock with your choice of free range eggs. Tea/coffee & toast included. Couldn't fault it on the whole. If we're being really nit picky, we were disappointed with the sausage provided with the cooked breakfast. It wasn't of good quality at all, but the rest of the breakfast was lovely.
Under normal circumstances, we wouldn't be able to afford to stay at Murrayshall unless there was a special deal available. If there's a special deal going, we highly recommend you take advantage of it, especially if you have a special occasion to celebrate.
Murrayshall is a special place & we really enjoyed our stay. We hope to be able to visit again soon.
Wheelchair accessible with suites in the annexe buildings also accessible.
Also near to Scone Palace, which is a must see.

Had an excellent stay in one of the lodge rooms which are a very good size. Only thing is a 2 minute walk to hotel which if it is raining is an issue. Staff were very efficient, friendly. The food was very good. This is a very nice country house hotel with its own golf courses.

Two night stay with friends. There were three of us and we stayed in the lodges just at the side of the hotel, Number 31, which was the first lodge on the ground floor. Twin bedded room and lounge with bed setee, and kitchen area. Arrived Friday 11am and put our wine and champagne in fridge, only to find fridge was not working. Reported this to Operations Manager but was told that it would not be fixed until Monday (we were leaving on the Sunday morning). They did, however supply ice
Buckets! We also reported that the overhead light in the lounge required a bulb and the bedroom lamp required a bulb but nothing was done about this either
Had ordered buggies for our golf on the Friday and Saturday. The course was very wet and quite dangerous in places, and the holes could have been better signposted. We were booked to play on the Murrayshall Course and the Lynedoch Course. However we never got to play on the Lynedoch as it was too wet. On the Saturday we were told that there were no buggies going out but we did get complimentary electric trolleys and had to walk the course which is quite long and the greens were awful as they were covered in sand.
We had booked for Dinner in the Old Masters Restaurant for the two nights of our stay and were very disappointed in the choice of food. I have stayed at Murrayshall at least six times over the years, when the chef was Mr. Lamb and the food was excellent, but the food and the service has deteriorated to such a degree that, unfortunately, I will not return to Murrayshall again, which is a great shame.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms in the hotel facing the Grampians have the best views. Upstairs back bedrooms look o...

Stayed here as a gift for my boyfriends Christmas and a break away. Setting is beautiful, tranquil and the views amazing. The hotel itself is extreme dated and in need of some tlc in order to charge the prices it does. Our room had essentially a ?superking sized bed but actually just 2 single beds zipped together so defeats the purpose of a nice big bed as if you roll over you get a painful awakening. Just aesthetics but on a big bed you need lots of pillows, there were 4 (on each side) very flat with a big gap in the middle. The furniture was shabby and marked, tiles in the bathroom cracked. Bin in bedroom disgustingly marked, actually couldn't look at it! Shower was ok but not that powerful. There was a tv in the room but it had either poor reception or the set itself was broken as had lines down it. Little touches were missing, one bottle of water for 2 people (sparkling and hot.)
Dinner in the restaurant again was ok, tasted nice enough but nothing to set it apart and to charge the prices they do.
Good choice for breakfast, coffee was lovely. Cooked breakfast a bit greasy but still decent.
Wouldn't be my choice for a return visit but it does boast a lovely golf course which my take us back and I suspect is what makes people return as hotel itself needs attention to charge the prices it does.
