We booked this guest house looking for bargain to be perfectly honest but we were delighted with our stay. The bedroom wasn't overly spacious but was tastefully decorated with what appeared to be a recently installed en-suite with a large shower. The whole place was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and at £5 each the breakfast was an absolute bargain. We will definitely stay here again.

I had planned on staying at a nearby hotel but I cancelled about a month before my stay due to receiving an unsatisfactory/unfriendly response to a simple enquiry. This resulted in me booking the Ardgowan almost as a 'last minute makedo' with little research. For this reason I arrived a little apprehensive but I was instantly reassured. The gentleman booking me in was welcoming and took time to show me where things where, how everything worked and made suggestions about where to go in Paisley - including advising that there was a supermarket within a short walk in the opposite direction.

Although travelling alone I had self-indulgently booked a double room but on arrival I was told that there was a single room available for £20 less. I wasn't pressured at all and decided that the room rate was so modest - I have frequently paid more for less - that I preferred to stick with the larger room. And I was happy with my choice as it was spacious, well equipped and clean and tidy. The large screen TV options included Netflix at no charge. The bay window faced the busyish main road outside but the double (triple?) glazing was sufficient that I heard very little noise.

As I side note, I also found central Paisley - about a 10 minute easy walk - equally delightful.

Our stay was very nice. Food was good, and there were no "dead animals" on the walls. So, it must be under new ownership. Staff was all really helpful and attentive. James especially so. The breakfast was a cheap 5 pounds and they provided a full Scottish breakfast with sausage, eggs, potato scones, toast, and beans as well as a mini continental bar with cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice, and a coffee machine. Very nice stay. Be aware you will share bathrooms, but the rooms were nice. The TV's are set with a Netflix account as well which was very nice. Thanks for the great Scottish Hospitality and value on our stay!

Room tip: All rooms were very quiet. Some are closer to the shared bathrooms, but not by much.

Stayed here 12/5/18, last visit around 10 years ago. Now I'll be honest and say most guest houses I've visited over the years have left a lot to be desired (this one included ten years ago) but was happy on my recent trip. Other than the weather being too warm outside (I'm Scottish haha) the room was perfect and the bathroom (one of my pet hates as I'm claustrophobic) was great, even better was a huge bathroom across the landing 😄 Use of garden which was appreciated plus more milk and iron and ironing board. Room 9 was lovely. One thing I will say though is remember the outside door is open and the inner door DOES take your key. Took me a good few minutes to open 😂 I didn't catch the name of the lady who seen to me, but thank you for your wonderful hospitality and I will definetly return in the future xxx

I only required accommodation for 1 night. I could of had a single bed shared bathroom for £25 pound per night or an en suite double for £30. Excellent value for money. More important it was clean and comfy and warm. Good size room
I would have stayed for breakfast but needed to be away early.
\\\\\\the reception staff were very pleasant of an evening upon check in and of a morning upon checkout. Ample space for parking.t
