“A friendly and welcoming pub, reasonably priced with no trash!”
Reviewed 2 May 2011

Whilst I have not stayed here at the Hotel, I often use it as it as my local. I concede in earlier reviews it did not have the best reputation in town. Again, it is not in the best of locations and is best visited in your car, however, things are now much improved in The Abbey which is why I feel inclined to add a post. I went there before Xmas and it appeared popular with people in groups having their Xmas dinner etc. Then I went with my parents to see a Neil Diamond tribute act which was very good (no charge for entry). My wife and I often go to see Colin on a Sunday evening for the pub quiz (only 50p) which is admittedly still quiet, but there is a warm and friendly atmosphere. In summary, the food and decor have much improved (although they could have a bit of a dig out in the beer garden) and the staff I feel deserve a special mention as they are sincerely friendly and helpful. Once there was something on the menu they had ran out of, but the chef made a chicken and leek pie to order, which was superb. Sorry, I have little to say about living upstairs, but if you are after a quiet beer in a friendly pub then this is fine. Paisley, sadly has (deservedly so) a poor reputation in Scotland and this is one of the very few the pubs here I would personally frequent and recommend to visitors.

This hotel has recently been refurbished, and all the previous negative points have been addressed. The rooms (or at least, my room) are still small, but adequate. I opted for an en-suite room, which had an adequate shower, with quick, hot water, WC and basin. The room iteslf had a single bed with a decent bedside light, hanging rack (no wardrobe as such), dresser/desk and small chest of drawers, and a small flat screen TV with remote. There were sufficient power points for laptop, phone charger, and all the othr things we can't do without these days.
The food in the pub downstairs was good.
This isn't exactly a tourist area, and I didn't notice many alternative eateries in the immediate (or further-flung) area, but it's handy for the airport and the west end of Glasgow.
When I arrived, the room window was open, and a car alarm was sounding outside - very loud. I c;losed the double glazed window, and - silence! So the traffic noise problem seems to have been solved.
Not the place to take someone you're trying to impress, but a good honest, working hotel, with very friendly staff.
NOTE: The hotel offers free WI. In the bar, and possibly in some of the rooms acccording to location, it's great, but in my room it was dreadfully slow.

Great location for Airport or North/South break.
Clean and functional, helpful staff. Breakfast was fine. We looked around Paisley for somewhere to different to eat, wished we had eaten at the Abbey instead! Good, economical accommodation in a estate chain pub. Would not use by public transport, a bit out of town.

Beware !!! The restaurant has recently been refurbished - but not the bedrooms which are very small, very basically furnished with old and tatty fitments, (the mattress was like something out of the ark), in very poor decorative order, and generally delapidated !!!!! The property is situated on a main trunk route but there is no double glazing, the old window frames are rotten and the locks not secure so no 'seal' from the traffic noise. There was also a lot of toing and froing through the night with lots of doors slamming and seemingly little in the way of 'noise proofing' internally so very little sleep at all. Also, the smell of cooking from the kitchen invaded the bedrooms. The linen was clean as was the room but only in a functional sort of way. Even though a little cheaper than a Premier Inn, it was definitely very poor value for money !!!!!!!
