Let’s start with what this site doesn't have; it doesn't have a pool, an amusement arcade, a supermarket or a showbar. What it does have are fantastic views, a lovely quiet atmosphere and easy access into Ayr and the surrounding attractions. The caravan we had was obviously brand new and was clean, spacious and well equipped. Having two toilets is a god send for our family and the kitchen and living area were pretty close to being the same size as ours at home. The decking at the side and front of the van was appreciated too. The only reason I’ve given the park 4 stars instead of 5 is that the ongoing improvement work to the park meant the drive up to our van was on an unmade road, but I’d imagine that would be rectified when the extension to the park is finished. We only had one issue with the caravan; a blind which wouldn’t drop; but the owner came out and resolved it quickly. The play park was clean and again obviously new; there did appear to be a play room with a few fruit machines and a pool table but they were all up against the wall so evidently out of use. All in all I’d recommend this park to anyone with a young family or just wanting a quiet holiday

Drove up looking for a pitch for my tent. At first everything looked promising. Went in to office to find out some information but no one around After making a call the manager turned up to show us where we could pitch our tent. £18.50 I thought was a good price considering other sites wanted twice that. We where shown to the pitch which was situated in the middle of the caravan park & next to the kids play area. This is where the problems started. I have no problems with kids playing but to listen to 20+ of them screaming , shouting, the tent being hit with balls & kids tripping over the tent ropes for 6 hours !!!!!! Midnight by the time the parents called them in !!! Suggestion if there are tents pitched then the kids play area should be closed at 9pm. If there are no tents then the play area could stay open longer. After all kids are allowed to enjoy themselves too. There was also a very much lack of things to do unless you where a kid

having stayed on crofthead holiday park on a few occasions i have always found it very family friendly with good on site shop and a great adventure play park for the the kids , all the people i have met on the site have had caravans for years and they go out there way to make you feel welcome , the site is only 5 mins from ayr town centre and the beaches , i like it so much i now own my own caravan on the site and the fees are less than that of other sites in the area , well worth a look and maybe you will be like me and buy your own holiday home here .

Crofthead Holiday Park Ayr.

I found Crofthead Holiday Park on the internet, the reviews I found stated it was a peacful quiet, family run park, clean and friendly etc.

As we were camping I booked ahead for three nights. I can agree on the most of the reviews about this site but one thing I disagree on is peacful and quiet. we were shown to our camping spot near the swings, well after putting the tent up and popping out for supplies we returned about 9:00pm to find around 15 children running round the tent and playing on the swings. I had to re-fix several guy ropes before settling down with a drink. I am all for children playing and having fun on holiday but the children did not stop playing on the swings untill 1:00am. then the teenagers took over and played, sang, drank etc until 4:00am.

the second night was the same and other campers moved off the site because of the noise (I know because they told us). So, if you intend to camp on the site I suggest you pitch your tent as far away as possable from the swings. apart from that it is a nice site, I just wished there were a few rules about noise late into the night.
