Had our tea there the other night. Restaurant was a bit quiet. Service very good and a nice menu.
Food excellent, all four plates totally cleaned. Will go back.

“Excellent Place to Eat”
Reviewed 29 December 2011

We were having a family shopping day in Ayr and looking for somewhere to eat and came upon the West of the Moon restaurant in Arthur Street, and were not disappointed.
On entering the main restaurant, we were welcomed by a friendly smiling young lady, who showed us to our table and made us feel welcome, offered us menu’s and took our drinks order, and explained that they do special lunch time deals etc., but we went for the full menu which had an excellent choice of starters and main dishes, we went for a main meal only.
I had the Haddock, chunky chips and mushy peas, and must say it was one of the best fish and chips I have had, specially the chunky chips, done to perfection as was the Haddock soft white fish with a really good crisp batter, and a nice bowl of mushy peas, “Pure Scottish”, the rest went for the macaroni and cheese, which again all said was perfect with a nice creamy cheese sauce, and a side order of chips, the French type not chunky, but again were perfectly cooked.
Overall the service could not be faulted, quick with the drinks order, and the meal, and just left us to enjoy, not like some places that come over every few minutes to see if all ok, but must say that the staff do pass a few times when having meal, which I like, as if you need something then you can call them over to your table, prices are reasonably, with excellent service in comfortably surroundings, will defiantly be eating at the Moon again when in Ayr.
