We stayed one night at this hotel. It is a typical Mecure hotel, modern and fashionable. It is the ideal location if you are staying in Ayr as it is in the town centre and close to all amenities. The staff are friendly and efficient. The breakfast is good and what you would expect from this chain of hotels. The bar drinks are a tad pricey, even by hotel standards, however their are many local bars within walking distance. the room are typical fair and pleasant. Only gripe if I have to be picky is that there is no free parking, however the car park at the rear is discounted by the hotel and is only a couple of pounds for an overnight stay.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your feedback from your stay at the hotel.

I am pleased that you had an enjoyable stay with us and, in particular, found the team to be friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very popular due to it's central location and I am glad that you were able to take advantage of this.

We hope that you will visit again soon and look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind Regards

Spent 4 nights here with my wife whilst visiting family in the area. Great to have somewhere to back when we arrived but the carpark got very busy over the weekend and was rammed on Saturday night that I almost coudn't get back in after our trip out. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, in fact everyone was, there were just not enough of them. The bar was often left unattended with clients waiting to be served drinks. We even had to wait half an hour to sit down for dinner even though over half the reataurant was empty. Food was ok to good but it was the only time we ate there. Lots of other places around and breakfast could be found at half the price.
The room was a good size but showing signs of age, paint peeling off the bathroom ceiling, cracked tiles, back coming away from a chair, woodwork stained etc. etc. The worst part however was the noise. Walls seemed to be very thin and voices in the corridor echoed so loudly we were continually woken during the night up until 4.00am on Fri and Sat. Clients coming back from a night out and room service were the suspected culprits.
Overall a so so hotel, good location, good parking when you can get in, great views from the higher rooms and bit more organisation needed and a tidy up with more soundproofing

Dear Guest

Thank you for your feedback after your stay at the hotel. I am sorry that you encountered a few issues whilst staying with us.

As a town centre hotel we are fortunate enough to have a car park which can accomodate 45 vehicles. The hotel has 118 bedrooms in total so when it is a busy weekend where we are at full occupancy the car park can often fill.

I have passed your comments on to the relevant departments for them to investigate and action where appropriate. The planned investment over the coming years will hopefully help to rectify the small issues with your room.

I hope that you will re-visit the hotel when you are next visiting Ayr and give us the opportunity to welcome you back.

Kind Regards

Lindsay Steele

Stayed here for a single night with my family. Good sized room with annexe for the children. Room and bathroom were clean and well presented. The Seb Coe gym and swimming pool were grim. Last decorated I'd guess in about 1982. In real need of a revamp.

Breakfast was good value and decent quality, although the restaurant was understaffed and service lacking.

An acceptable family stay, but wouldnt hurry back..

We have been to this Hotel a number of times but it has recently been taken over by Mercure. It is looking tired and in bad need of a make over. The leisure Centre is poor and needs totally revamped.
The rooms are basic but clean, the hotel in general is very noisy day and most of the night were you hear every sound and late night revellers are selfish till dawn.
We were looking forward to Breakfast and were sadly disappointed. Young children unsupervised and noisy.
The Dinning Room was practically empty and we were squashed into a corner with2 other couples. The food was poorly presented and unappetising.
I dont think we would contemplate a repeat adventure . :-(

Thank you for your feedback from your last stay at the Mercure Ayr Hotel. I am disappointed that you did not have an enjoyable experience with us on this occasion.

Since the re-brand to Mercure there has been significant investment planned for many areas of the hotel over the coming years.

I am sorry that you do not think you will stay with us on future visits to Ayr and will be passing your comments on to the relevant departments to investigate and action.

This is the 4th time I've stayed here, the rooms are basic but the hotel is well placed and has a car park (£2 for overnight). The view from the 5th floor sea-facing rooms are fabulous, even on a rainy morning. So if you are looking for somewhere to stay at a budget price and with rooms to match, the Mercure fits the bill.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view room
