I stayed at this hotel between Christmas and New year and would not recommend it to anyone. The kettle in the room had been used to make coffee & had never been cleaned. The whining noise in the room from the window was terrible and eventually we had to change rooms in the middle of the night. In the morning we waited 15 minutes for breakfast and left when we could not get served. There was only one waitress working in the breakfast area. I am still waiting for the manager to get back to me about my stay. The only good thing about the Hotel was the professionalism of the reception staff both during the day and at night.

Stayed here with my son for one night. I was very surprised at the quality considering the very reasonable price I paid. Room was large and beds very comfortable. We were at the rear of the hotel so had some noise from the pub next door but nothing to bad. Really liked the room facilities high speed internet. Used the pool in the morning which was great. Staff are very friendly especially reception and the leisure staff. Would defo go back for a longer stay as location is excellent and while you have to pay for your parking it is only £2 for the full day and night.

Good location, car park a little hard to find on 1st visit, car park is £2.00 per day which is added to your bill. Nice, friendly check-in, room with a view over Ayr and out to sea, ate out so cannot comment of the food (Ayr India a must), bar was ok, pretty quiet on return, good spa facilities; pool, jacuzzi, steam room & sauna, not too busy. Paid £10 for breakfast which was a buffet style, help yourself, no way worth £10.00 but got hotel for such as discounted rate it didn't matter. So, all in all a good, central location hotel with spa facilities in Ayr, wouldn't pay full price for it though.

Just returned from the above hotel having spent Hogmany there, excellent facilities including swimming pool, sauna and steam room, which is free to guests
Could not fault the staff very friendly from the Manager, waiting & bar staff even the lovely lady who kept our room spotless
3rd time we have visited and will not be our last

Room Tip: We were in room 564 on the fifth floor and had a lovely view right down to the sea and beyond

We got a great deal for a two night stay and the young staff team were very good. However, the hotel is showing its age. In our room there were cracks in the celing with water drips, toilet didn't flush without holding the button in, the shower head fitting was broken, the tv hand control worked intermittingly and the room door was so tight we had to shoulder it to get it open.

The breakfast was ok but heavy on the grease with little fruit options and the coffee/ teas slightly stewed. The hotel had great parking and was very central just being minutes away from the GaietyTheatre and Main Street. Ayr was very pleasant and the Burns Museum first class.

We used the spa and although it looked some what dated and a bit scruffy at points the pool and jacuzzi were very good and again young staff very pleasant. Mercure need to invest in the fabric of the hotel rather than a cosmetic job which you got a sense of and give the very competent staff something to be proud of and work with.

We as a family have been down at least 7 times this year, all visits have been wonderful: Till now..
Still good value dbb 120 pound ,age range 3 to 87 .
The main concern was lack of sleep with the hotel disco, and no sound proof, we had the top floor rooms and heard every word from the dj.
Our young children did not get to sleep till 11 pm.due to the noise.from the hotel!
We did get to sleep at 130 am ,shattered.
I phoned and asked reception if it could be turned down, no was the answer.
The key to a good stay is a good sleep.
Recently we stayed @ the Hilton hotel we had 4 functions on till 1 am ,they have soundproofing ,we slept like a log,and never heard a peep.
Then there was the food , it used to be of a good standard with choice, now set menu limited choice , burger was aberdeen Angus, I dispute this.deep fried junk.
We love a homemade sticky toffee pudding ,light fresh tasty
Sadly we all left their heavy ,tastless, chewy excuse for a pudding.
And they all bad things come in threes , their right.
The pool had polar bears coming out of it looking for hats and scarves. That cold.
Kids came out after 5 mins.

As ever the staff even the new young ones are very helpful.
Sain in the pool area was wonderful,
Susan nelson was also fantastic.
Chris the manager was kind ,helpful .
Yet it saddens me to say it but I have to be honest, it is on the slide.
We hope it was a one off, yet time Will tell.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your feedback following your most recent stay with us. I am sorry that on this occasion we failed to meet your expectations.

I have passed your feedback on to the relevant departments to look into. Hopefully it won't be too long until we get the chance to welcome you back to the hotel and show you that, like previous visits, this is not typical of the standards we set ourselves.

Kind Regards
