“Burglary at Craig Tara”
Reviewed 27 August 2011

I arrived with my family on the 19th and on 20th of august 2011 someone unlocked my apartment door and took away my laptop, hard drive and wife's wallet which had about £90 in cash. Despite the presence of security vans wandering about they couldn't do the most obvious thing of reviewing the CCTV. The burglar stuffed my valuable possessions in my navy blue reebok bag which i believe could easily be spotted on CCTV. This was my second holiday at the resort but with this unfortunate event I would never recommend a friend

Dear Guest,

I am sorry that you have had items taken from you apartment while staying at Craig Tara. We have a large security presence on the park, with regular patrols throughout the day and night around the park. Our CCTV are positioned around the park however we cannot cover every unit around the clock, our records do show that we did look at the CCTV footage but it did not cover your apartment at the time of the burglary which we can only apologise for.

Due to the nature of this incident it was passed over to the Police and it is now a Police matter.

I spent 3 nights in this park with my two children one of whom is disabled. While there is lots to do for able bodied children there was not one ride or type of amusement for my disabled son! There were plenty of ramps for wheelchairs and we stayed in a very acceptable wheelchair adapted mobile but I was astonished that there was not facilities or even a swing that my son could use. For this reason I would not recommend any family with a disabled child to go to Craig Tara.

Where to start really. The caravan was disgusting on arrival, stupidly we just cleaned up ourselves. The prices they charge for the activities n site are ridiculous, £5 for everything and when it lasts 2 mins and you have 3 kids it isnt cheap. Mash and barrell wifi is painfuly slow. Staff were rude. The beach was like nothing I have ever seen before and the smell was atrocious. Evening entertainment makes me want to stick red hot needles in my eyes. Wont be back

We have been here 3 times in 5 years and as long as your are not expecting Ritz standards for travelodge prices you will be happy. The caravans vary- as does there cleaniness- the biggest improvement is to ask for a non pet caravan, then if you are not happy when you check in to ask for it to be cleaned again. The cleaning seems to be carried out by 16/17 year olds with mobiles attached to their ear so its not of the best quality!
The food is turnberry gardens is fine- the drinks coffee/tea etc are vile. The food seems to be home cooked and apart from being very salty is OK.
The surroundings are very pleasant, nice seaviews and lots to do for the kids. This is NOT an expensive holiday option take it for what it is and enjoy!

We booked this holiday last july to try a different Haven camp for a change. We have stayed at several different Haven camps and can say that this is the worst one out of them . This is what can only be described as a "rough and ready " sort of camp... The Accomodation was ok as we stayed in the Half Board Apartments . We paid a little bit extra to go into what was described as a renovated and updated apartment....several bits and bobs were falling apart or not working , but we are not complainers and usually just see the apartment as a bed for the night because normally there is lots to do through the day whatever the weather....WRONG !!..... There is very little activity through the day , especially if its wet weather. Evening entertainment is very poor and very very samey.....not one single funstar show , which is very unusual , as every other camp we have stayed has put on very good shows or funstar shows . Funstars when they could be bothered to speak were in our view quite miserable .....set aside for one or two.....staff within the camp were pretty miserable and moody too...again set aside for one or two...... The beach is a joke....they sell buckets and spades in the shops but to be honest i wouldnt let my dog go on what would be insultingly called a beach . The swimming pool was good , but one venue unfortunately doesnt make a holiday .. Food was fine and plentiful . The overall mood of the camp and people in it was very moody.... If you were an "OWNER " then you got the attention and sucked up to , but us mere mortals dont count . We have left the camp two days early as to be honest by the time the drunkeness and fighting had taken place in the live lounge , we had had enough !...... I really wished we had stuck to Hafan Y Mor in North Wales as its also a Half Board camp with very friendly staff , good accomodation and plenty to do day and night....Including great entertainment.....CRAIG TARA LETS HAVEN HOLIDAYS DOWN BADLY !!!

We have just come back from Craig Tara and booked the half board, which we recommend and will certainly do again. It saves you a fortune when you have a family of 5 and the food was good enough. Unfortunately on our return home 3 out of the 5 of us had sickness and diarrhoea, which could be the breakfast or a bug who knows!!! Can happen anywhere. Only complaint we have is that in the quazer laser one of the guns didnt work. They offered us a £4 refund but we had no change of a fiver and said if we came back we could get a free game. We went back 2 days later to play table tennis, £2 for the table, explained what had happened and the guy said he couldnt remember. So we had to pay for the table. Just a little annoying but would not stop us going again. The apartment was really clean and the site is kept tidy. There are a lot of parts which are a little outdated and could do with some tlc but im sure in time they will get round to it. We all know how hard times are at the moment. After reading a lot of the reviews I was dreading what I was going to find but all I can say is that I was pleasantly surprised and the kids had a great time. If you want 5 star accommodation then no caravan park that caters for kids is for you!!

Room Tip: Book halfboard every time, unless you are loaded. And lets face it these caravan parks arent for yo...
