“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

I had 4 wonderful days at Margarets house - so close to the Abbey and the beautiful beaches in the south end of the Island. Very recommendable indeed. And Iona itself is the most beautiful place in the world. I will come back for sure.

I have been to Margaret McDonald's Bishop Walk B&B now 3 times and EVERY time I have been very pleased with the friendly welcome, the cleanliness and superb cooking, I even visited Margaret once when I stayed on Iona but was not able to stay at her B&B.

I can highly recommend this B&B and can see no reason why it should not be ranked #1 on Iona

Margaret is a lovely person who was very accommodating. She was flexible with our dietary needs, arriving and leaving times, and in getting our bags to and from the ferry. The sheep are very entertaining, especially the lambs (in May). She has a beautiful view of the sea from the tub upstairs, and the tallest hill, quick to climb, is just behind the house and has views of the whole island. The accommodations are immaculate and well appointed with in room heater, fast internet and hair dryer. Breakfast was lovely and filling with everything you can imagine available. Fruit, coffee, tea and access to kitchen available at all times. We had a lovely stay and will come back soon!

A true shelter. Margaret McDonald made us feel like we had finally arrived home after a long, long journey. She picked us up at the ferry landing, fixed delicious meals, treated us in every way as if she had been waiting just for us and, at the end, regretted our leaving. I suspect she makes everyone feel this way, but there is no lack of sincerity. You can tell, for one thing, from the high quality of her cooking--authentic Scottish home cooking prepared right in front of you in her beautiful kitchen. For another, she will talk to you about anything from worship schedules to ferry piloting to sheep herding and her own family history on the island. If you're lucky and she has the time, she'll fix supper for you as well as breakfast. Bedrooms are small--the house is over 250 years old, so you should expect that--but comfortable and clearn, with wonderful views. If you like B & B's, you will like Margaret's warm and welcoming home.

Margaret undoubtedly is a great hostess. She picks you up from the pier from the ferry and welcomes you warmly to her large and comfortable home. Her kitchen becomes yours for the duration of your stay. Her breakfasts are amazing and her kindness refreshing.

Thank you for a lovely stay at your place Margaret. Your warm welcome, the spotless and cosy house with our 'room with a view'. Waking up to the wind and sunshine and the smell of a tasty breakfast. Our conversations over the breakfast table from mother to mother, the sharing of stories. Your helping hand for getting ready for the Iona wedding. My husband and I will be back for another retreat. May the roads rise to meet you....

I was picked up by Margaret at the Pier, I was taken to her home overlooking green fields with a magnificent sea view. Margaret was the perfect hostess, friendy and extremely helpful. Going out of her way to ensure that I had information that enabled me to attend Mass at the House of Prayer on a special Holyday.
Room was excellent, fresh comfy bed ( slept like a log) and had everything you would want with a TV, hairdryer etc. Whole house was spotlessly clean and wellcoming.
Margaret makes a great breakfast which sets you up for the day. Overall I would highly recommend Bishop's Walk to anyone considering a stay in Iona - I will certainly be back.
