Owner description: Iolaire sails twice daily from Iona at 9.45am or1.45pm OR from Fionnphort at 10am or 2pm. The trip lasts 3 hours and you can get on or off at Fionnphort or Iona. The Iolaire is a brown wooden boat and returns to Fionnphort first at 1pm or 5pm and then to Iona 10 minutes later. The sea journey takes 45 minutes and en route a wide variety of sea life may be observed. Once at Staffa a commentary is given and Fingal's Cave can be seen from the Iolaire. Passengers are landed weather permitted and given at lease one hour ashore which allows time to walk into Fingal's Cave or up the ladders to see the puffins when they are in season. There is always something exciting to see and the crew will be happy to welcome you on board the Iolaire.

Great day out and worth every penny. The information given was good. The Puffins were very entertaining and Fingal's cave is amazing.

Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed your visit to Staffa and you were lucky to catch the puffins at this time of year as they can be here today and gone tomorrow.

We booked Staffa and Iona trip from Mull. As I have a mobility problem I knew that I would not be able to cope with Staffa therefore requested to remain on boat. I did not expect to be given a personal tour around the island but this is what was offered. The guide was friendly, informative, caring and this trip was the highlight of my holiday.

Davie always enjoys it when folk stay aboard and is happy to take them for a wee sail whilst the others are ashore. Staffa looks quite stunning from the sea and although Fingal's Cave is the most spectacular, all the rock formations are interesting. I'm glad you decided to go in spite of your mobility challenges.

This was the jewel in the crown during an amazing summer day trip to Staffa then Iona.
We chose the first boat tour of the day and were pleased to have made that choice, as it give us the opportunity to visit Fingal's cave before it become over run with other day trippers.
Having had an opportunity to view the cave briefly on our own, we were then able to sit back and relax to the sound of the Atlantic surf which inspired Felix Mendelssohn to his overture.
Another of life's little ticks done.
If you wish to see Puffins then you are better off choosing the Treshnish Island tour as they were only visible through binoculars out at sea from Staffa, not much chance of a photographers dream shot...

Excellent trip which I'm very happy to recommend! Very welcome hosts who made time for ALL their passengers on board, and who provided great insight into the area and the wildlife. Ticking off two lifetime dreams for visiting Staffa/Fingal's Cave and seeing puffins was a joy. A beautiful day which we'll remember for a very long time! Well worth the money!

We took a tour out to the island. The boat was fast and small compared to a ferry. The ride was fun, and the views beautiful. We had a perfect day for weather. The boat docks, and you are allowed to roam for about an hour. We navigated the rock walkway to the cave, and took pictures. It was neat. Then we went the other direction to find the Puffins. They were on the edge of the cliffs coming in an out of their holes, and flying on and off the cliff. We had a lot of fun, and took lots of pictures.

While this is a rugged island, it is navigable by most.

The puffins are great to watch on Staffa although Davie always says you have to sit a while and wait for them to come ashore. Glad you had fun.
