“Coffee & Cake for cyclists & walkers”

What could be more welcome than coffee and cake as you navigate the almost always windy Scottish Isles? The owner of this B&B on the southern tip of Islay bakes cakes for several establishments across Islay and welcomes cyclists, walkers and others into the cosy lounge or garden when the weather is kind, for an often much needed sugar boost.

Popped in here a few times for Coffee and Cake and a chat with the lovely Kay. If visiting Portnahaven and Port Wemyss then this is a must. Can not recommend it enough, so glad the Bara Brith worked too! See you on our next visit.

Our host at our B&B in Bowmore told us about this cafe. There was a cold wind so we sat inside in the sitting room and enjoyed hot chocolate and cake. The Queen of Sheba cake was delicious.
There was a selection of three cakes plus scones and in better weather you can sit outside and enjoy the view over to the Rhinns of Islay lighthouse.

Hidden on the Southern tip of Islay is a wonderful Cafe combined with a B&B.

Kate is a finalist in the Scottish Home Baker competition, and I hope by now she has won!

Every day there are great new cake recipes to try, on the comfortable settee and chairs. Often a neighbour will drop in for a chat, so you can pick up all the local knowledge you need.

For once the tea is as good as you can make at home, and served in splendid crockery.

If the sun is shining, sit outside in the garden

.....and if that isn't enough to tempt you......it's the only cafe in the village!
