A small self contained beach, uncrowned, unpolluted with a fantastic view over the Atlantic. Loved this place.

We went to Mull but unfortunately didn't have time for the popular day excursion to Iona and Staffa. Luckily we decided to take the drive out to Calgary Bay instead as a more accessible and shorter option and we weren't disappointed. The drive, along a single track road which winds for miles high and low with stunning views of the sea and terrain, is just rough enough to give the sense of really being somewhere special whilst at the same time not requiring a 4x4 or any special preparation. When you get to the bay, the beach is really something. We went in mid august and only 2 or 3 other families were to be seen. The water is crystal clear and the beach spotless with pure white sand and big area of rockpools.

If you're looking for something to fill a day trip to Mull with time to make it back to the mainland for teatime, a drive out to Calgary bay on a nice day is perfect.

Wonderful day. Clean silver sand. Free parking, clean toilets, permanent barbecues and tables on campsite.
Although we were penalised by having a large motor home - we managed to park in the lay by for the day (and night!!)-saw a sea otter in the evening.

It is possible to camp there, for free, although the public toilet is quite disgusting. The sand is white and the cliff along the bay offers a wonderful view.

We always pay calgary a visit whilst staying on Mull. It's not been great weather every time we go there but it's such a beautiful place it really doesn't matter. The weather can change so quickly there that it's worth taking a change of clothes! We recommend paying the Calgary Art in nature place a visit too which is just up the road from the beach.
