We took our motor home to Mull for the second time and this island never ceases to delight and amaze. Calgary beach is stunning and a joy for 'real' wild campers. Whilst we were there cyclists and canoeists rolled up and pitched their tents right on the beautiful white sand beach. What a joy to see total freedom to camp where and when you want. The toilets are close bye and there is plenty to explore. When we awoke next morning there were a herd of fallow deer, probably about 15, right next to the beach. A joy. Thank you Mull we were made so welcome and had an amazing time.

Stunning bay surrounded by hills in a U shape with near white sand. When the sun is out you could be anywhere in the world but even when its wet and blustery and the sea is dark its still worth a walk. Rock pools to right hand side for children to investigate and a small freshwater stream to the left hand side, Backed by dunes and the mhair grassland. Toilets on road to rear of beach well set back as is a small campsite and lay up for campervans etc. Approach from Dervaig is steep twisty and has no passing places so the last 300 yards can sometimes be a bit of a traffic jam at busy times, look well ahead before you descend the final dip and then beach entrance is on right hand side. Car parking for about 15 cars with a few tables, can be very difficult to park when busy. Beach rarely feels full. Sheep running loose so please keep dogs on lead unless well trained. Beach generally very clean, less so after winter gales, very little litter but what there is generally is fishing related and not domestic rubbish. Beach shelves gently in to sea, water has quite a bit of seaweed in it. Overall a great day out for all alike. Please keep this wonderful beach clean thanks.
