“This is a very special place”

The location of the boathouse is breathtaking and from some of the windows you feel you are on the water. The house itself is 5 star with fixtures and fittings of a very high standard. The flooring is slate and the underfloor heating makes it extra special. The lounge is spacious and the bedroom upstairs huge as is the bathroom. I wish we had been able to stay for longer as it was so amazing. The scenery and the wildlife is so outstanding that all you want to do is gaze out of the windows. We did attempt to sit out but January in Scotland is not going to allow that for very long. I can imagine that the long summers in Skye would be just so wonderful. We saw eagles, otters (4 of them) frolicking in the sea loch right outside the door. The cottage itself has everything you could wish for and Carol is only a stone's throw away if you need anything. I would love to come back in the springtime or summer when I could sit out and enjoy the long summer nights in this very special part of the world. Memorable!

It's great to have a lovely positive review to start the new year; a special thanks to guests who make the journey north in wintry conditions. Happy 2017 everyone!

“Fantastic stay - beautiful location, private and restful”

We stayed at the Boathouse for 1 week in August and our only regret was that we wished we had stayed for two. Carol provided a warm welcome with wine and goodies to get through the first night. The house exceeded our expectations in every way - comfortable sitting area with fireplace, well appointed upstairs with a bedroom and modern bathroom, and a full kitchen that we fully used (make sure you buy fresh seafood from Just Hooked on Portree Harbour). The weather was amazing and we sat out every evening with a drink and enjoyed the sunset views over the loch. It was a great location as a base to explore Skye. We also developed a bit of an attachment to the sheep that seemed to visit us on a daily basis! Our stay at the Boathouse made our trip to Skye special and we look forward to returning.

I thought I'd also say that TripAdvisor says I reply to only 5% of enquiries - which is rubbish! I reply to all enquiries - usually within a few hours. But I refuse to use the TA template - preferring to personalise my responses. So, guests deal with a person, but I don't get my report card checked! Well, I can't beat the system, so just have to live with the perception of customer neglect.

My husband and I stayed at this lovely boathouse again for the consecutive time. We were so glad we visited this beautiful spot on Skye again. It's hard to describe how stunning this location is.
The boathouse is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Luxury in a rural location. If you read my first review you will get a flavour of how special this place is.
The boathouse, the views, the varied wildlife and the peace and quiet is my idea of a holiday. Not forgetting again the charismatic sheep.
You must go to experience how special this boathouse is.
Thank you carol once again.

“Gorgeous and Thoughtfully Appointed”

We came to Skye from the States to get married and we are so thankful that we were able to call the Boathouse 'home' during our stay. The house itself was spotlessly clean and adequately stocked with all of those little items that you don't think to pack but realize you need in order to feel at home! And that's not including the chocolate, champagne, and Irish butter that we discovered in the fridge!

The views out of every single window could have been a postcard-especially the view from the bathtub. We loved being able to have a front row seat (at the dining room table) to the local farmer's sheep being herded from field to field by the collies. The heavy tartan curtains and fire place made us feel so sheltered and cozy on blustery nights.

The wifi worked reliably and it was very handy to have a washer/dryer in the half bath. It was just a short drive off the the A road to get to the Boathouse and a quick drive to get to Portree, Uig, and the Quiraing.

We were certainly sad to leave the Boathouse and are already thinking about visiting again for an anniversary.

We spent two magnificent weeks at the boathouse in Kingsburgh. If you are seeking quiet and peace, paired with great wildlife watching opportunities, you found the place. Seriously, book it now. The Loch Snizort (ocean bay) is literally 10 steps out the door, we watched various wildlife on and around the water during meals. Sitting at the back of the house on a windless evening, the quiet might only be interrupted by the splashing of a seal!

“The best honeymoon! ”

When we found the boathouse online, it seemed to be everything we had been looking for - rural, secluded and cosy. After arriving on the Saturday after a hefty drive up from Manchester we were blown away! The boathouse far exceeded our expectations and we had a honeymoon that we will never forget.
It's the little touches that go far in making a guest feel at home and Champagne in the fridge and a welcome note was such a lovely touch, that we really appreciated. Also the basket of goodies and milk in the fridge was also very thoughtful.
The house is beautiful and so comfortable. The wood burning stove is amazing and is a joy to sit and relax in front of after a long day of walking.
The wifi was perfect for our needs - it helped us to stay in touch. When out and about in Skye, phone reception is impossible - so it proved really valuable to have wifi to be able send texts and check online for local spots.
One thing that is amazing about this area is the absolute silence once you step outside. We hadn't experienced anything like it, I guess in Manchester you can always hear a motorway somewhere in the background!
Loch Snizort is beautiful and right outside the house, the sheep are always about and the ram is very amusing when he tries to stand his ground before running off back down the lane!
Thank you Carol for a wonderful week, we hope to be back one year for our anniversary!

“Exceptional holiday cottage”

We booked for the Christmas week. We arrived in a haven from a wild storm on our journey. Every effort had been made to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The cottage was warm, there were logs, a lovely Christmas tree, Champagne in the fridge, and breakfast supplies.
The cottage was very well equipped and everything was of high quality.
Wonderful views from every part of the cottage and plenty of wildlife to see. Christmas lunch watching seals in the Loch.
Best bed we've slept in.
Wifi speed was fine and better than our rural Wales connection. No mobile signal was a blessing, a landline phone in the cottage was available if needed.
Looking forward to visiting again.
