I perhaps should have realised this was going to be a disaster as we drove into the pot holed car park with huge puddles and car damaging holes.
It was half term, it was dry, well it had stopped raining, and a game of mini golf among the dinosaurs would be fun I thought............".if only
The club house/coffee shop/ golf supplies shop was in a new looking building and the entrance to the mini golf had a sign asking you to pay at reception and I duly did. The cashier was perfunctory but I almost had to,pick my self off the floor when told it would costs £18.50 for 1 adult and 2 kids to have a round of mini golf. Stunned, but having driven some distance, I paid, hoping that it would be something very special. I was to be very disappointed!
There are 18 holes and it ranks as one of the poorest attractions I have ever had the misfortune of paying for. The holes are all on plastic grass and offer very little in terms of fun, challenge or interest. They are laid out in an area dotted with several large dinosaurs, a broken jeep and a crashed helicopter. It is all very new, very plastic and very very dull. My kids aged 7 and 8 were not impressed.
I had half expected the putting to be either dodging dinosaurs or passing through them, but no, they were mere ornaments dotting the landscape.
It was simply dreadful!
By the end,and it took less than 30 minutes, it was a blessed relief to be done. I then made the catastrophic error of going to the cafe where I ordered 2 kids tuna sandwiches,a coffee and a fruit scone from a sullen waitress in bright red hair.......no doubt being worn for Halloween.
The kids meal came with yoghurt and fruit but when it arrived I gazed in horror at what passed as a kids meal. The sandwich was tiny, the fruit was not fresh and the yoghurt was, well, yoghurt. There was no drink! The coffee was lukewarm and the scone at least a day old and accompanied by a tiny jam portion and some clotted cream. . I paid almost £12 for this muck.
The table we sat at was stained by beer and the whole cafe area was just, well, ...below par!
The whole experience is to be avoided. It is extraordinary bad value for money and frankly the owners should be ashamed. It is beyond my comprehension why anyone would pay this sort of money for mini golf or for the awful food. perhaps golfers have more money than sense but If they continue to charge at this rate then I am confident that this attraction will, like the dinosaurs before it, be extinct very shortly.
Avoid at all costs.
