My partner and I decided to try this place for food as we had only previously popped in for drinks. Where do I start? The place wasn't busy but 2 tables next to the one we chose were covered in plates and glasses. Our table was cleared but not cleaned and the carpet and seat were also covered in food debris. Had there been a food fight in this corner? The waitress was very helpful when we ordered food and asked for our table to be cleaned asap. Table duly cleaned by a young man more interested in his reflection in the pictures than making sure the clearing up was done, perhaps he needs to get glasses as he made no move to clear the 2 messy tables, they were still messy an hour and a half later when we left! We ordered the combo starter with extra wings and mushrooms. This was served promptly and it was delicious. We ordered the signature apple crumble with toffee sauce and custard. A waitress came to our table and said the sweets would be about 15 mins as the kitchen was busy. After half an hour we enquired about our puddings. Gok Wan managed to stop preening long enough to find out for us. He returned with our dessert orders. Yeuch!!!! They had obviously been left on the side and forgotten about as the custard was cold with a skin over it. The toffee sauce had split and soaked into the crumble that had soaked into the apple sauce. A cold gloopy mess, inedible. We will not be recommending this place or returning.
The manager needs to get out on the restaurant floor and make sure the staff are doing their jobs. Where are the secret shoppers when you need them?
