... however, everything else is still very decent!

We stayed at this hotel when visiting our friends in Dumbarton. The bar is ok, the restoraunt is ok, the corridors and the general view of the hotel do not seem to be all that attractive, however, the room was absolutely brilliant!

In fact, the room was so good that it even looked out of class - as if you are walking from a 2-star corridor into at least 4-5 stars hotel room - well impressed!

We only needed a comfortable and clean place to sleep and have a shower from this hotel, and from that perspective, it is absolutely wonderful, definitely recommended.

Stayed for one night in the Abbotsford after being moved following over-subscription of another Hotel that we had booked for a Wedding. Despite early issues with liability, the staff were very friendly and happily booked us into our room and took care of the administration privately, leaving us to get ready for our event.

The accommodation was more than adequate, with decent sized, clean rooms. Breakfast was sizeable and varied.

If you are staying in the area I'm sure you could do a lot worse, however I do think the green doors should be painted a different colour...

After travelling the UK and Europe for 6 weeks we arrived in Dumbarton and were completely gobsmacked by the willing, friendly service of the Hotel staff. The rooms were fine - nothing to rave about but clean and spacious - but the staff were FANTASTIC!!!
Went over the top with their assistance and yet they were just doing their job! The nicest service we have received in the 6 weeks abroad!!!

We attended a family wedding at the Abbotsford at the end of September. The reception staff were very friendly, and the bar/restaurant areas, spacious and comfortable.

The food served at the wedding was fantastic, and the bar prices very reasonable.

The room was quite basic, but clean and comfortable. After all, we weren't planning a holiday, just somewhere to sleep after a busy and hectic day.

The hotel staff were all very friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble, and we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the day. We probably wouldn't stay there again by choice, as it is only 4 miles from home, but that is no reflection on the hotel.

We stayed at the Abbotsford for a weekend because my cousin;s wedding was held there. We were orginally going to stay for two nights but only stayed the saturday night as i refused to pay £82 pounds a night for very poor rooms.
I saw about 3 of the hotel rooms at the Abbotsford as we were in different rooms visiting families and i have to say, i would be happy paying about £25 pounds a room, (the travelodge down the road has much nicer, cleaner rooms).
Every room door was a dingy green colour and with very wobbly door handles. When we entered our room, and pulled down the bedspread, (which was very stained),. we were greeted with a very itchy sickly green colour blanket. In addition to this, i could not shut the curtains, otherwise the pole would have fallen on top of me. In the bathroom, the toilet seat was all cracked and in one of the rooms, there was a huge gap between the bath and the wall. (worrying!) .
Also we had the problem of a very rude housekeeper, who, rudely interupted our family conversation and started shouting at us because some of the rooms were not ready for our guests to use. Talk about customer service ...with abuse!
Breakfast was also dissappointing, with no continental options at all, apart from cereal,,, pretty poor !
However on the plus side, i couldnt fault the wedding function, it was amazing and the food they served was lovely...so it was a nice place to have a wedding,,,but just dont stay overnight!!!
