Staying at the Arden Country House all ways feel like coming home; whilst this is only our second stay at this well established B&B, rest assure we will be coming back for many years to come. The proprietor of the property Beth Cruickshank is such a Darling of a person who makes you feel at home with every turn. Small gestures after a long journey (form Haarlem, NL), such as fresh tea/ coffee upon arrival and warm scones outlines the intimacy of a loving B&B versus a big hotel chain. Plain and simple, we/I love coming to stay at the Arden Country House. For your benefit I note the below points and hope that it will inspire you to go and have a visit at one of Scotland’s best B&B!!!

Food: The morning breakfast are hearty and filling and leaves you well equipped for a day of exploring. Literally, no food required prior to 3:00pm. But do be warn, the breakfast’s are Dangerously (Deliciously) Good!!! So eat with caution – but if you’re Hill Walkers and Climbers like us then do fill up, you’ll have no regret and your body will surely thank you.

Accommodation/ property grounds: The house, the rooms are all tastefully decorated and particularly comfortable (welcoming). The ambiance is both calming and tranquil which relaxes you instantly upon entrance, nostalgic to say the least. The property is picturesque and the gardens are beautiful, filled with wonderful pines and spruce trees in addition to numerous plants and flora which reinforces the exquisiteness of the property and area!

Location: Linlithgow is an excellent base for exploring, giving its central location. The city itself is rural and is filled with numerous hidden trails and lochs to enjoy. All packed into a very warm community filled with sociable people and all the amenities one could require, i.e. restaurants, pubs, grocery store, bank etc. Edinburgh city center is within a 30min car ride or a 20min train ride – provides quick access to all the tourist adventures.

Success with your travels, and until the next review - Live, Laugh and Love.

Best regards,
Janis

Room Tip: We love the galloway room - no reason in particular, its on the 2nd floor.

Wow, what an amazing review, thank you so much. It is such a wonderful compliment when guests choose to return and I thank you both for choosing Arden County House during your recent trip to Scotland. As always it is great to hear about your travels and most recently about your gorgeous new home and all of the wonderful renovations.

By choosing to book directly we offer complimentary afternoon tea with home baking, I am so glad you enjoyed the scones.

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a 2014 filled with new adventures. I do hope 2014 will be the year when all of your wishes come true.

The nicest bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in. Beth is one of the most accommodating hosts I have ever met, including staying up late as we were delayed. We also had the date wrong which she sorted out for us without any fuss whatsoever. Magnificent rooms and a breakfast most 5 star hotels would have been proud of. Locally sourced produce, loads of options... Think it was 37.

One word to describe it... wow!

Will stay there again for sure.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review, it was really lovely to meet you both and I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Our newfoundland certainly enjoyed the extra attention. I do hope the boys had a great time with the relatives and that you feel rested after your time away. We will look forward to seeing you again , if you are ever in the area,

My husband and I stayed at this lovely B&B with our two adult children in July. We arrived tired after an over night flight and were greeted with a delicious and filling tea. On the menu was tablet, which we had never had before and three of us have not tried it yet because our daughter ate it all! Our kind host, Beth, emailed us the recipe so that our daughter could make tablet at home.

Our rooms were very comfortable, attractive and clean. We had a great night's sleep and awoke to an amazing and plentiful breakfast. Beth chatted with us and gave us some excellent tips. What a great way to begin our trip to Scotland.

Set in lush country gardens and fields Arden House provides a peaceful and perfect location close to all Edinburgh's beautiful surroundings. The owner Beth provides warm hospitality and advice on local attractions, transport etc. Her enormous range of choices at breakfast and the quality of food excel. The bedrooms are large, cosy, spotlessly clean and stocked with top class toiletries. Little treats are provided on arrival, during and at the end of your stay. The price is moderate. We would only stay at Arden House if ever we visit Edinburgh again.

Room Tip: The ground floor room has a hand made king sized bed which is heavenly comfortable. The shower is f...

We travel far and wide across the UK and although we stay in a lot of really nice places, Arden House is a considerable cut above the remaining very best. We stay at Arden House every year and we're always so excited about going. Beth the landlady is the perfect hostess and her breakfasts are out of this world. Her homemade cakes are fantastic. The house and the rooms are amazing and spotlessly clean. The house is set in lovely grounds and is so peaceful and relaxing. A wonderful place to switch off from the stresses of everyday life. Would highly recommend.

Our stay was for 3 nights from late April 2012. After a long trip up from Yorkshire the welcome cuppa with home baked goodies was most welcome. Scotland turned on some fine weather for us after the gloom of the wettest April on record down south. With Beth's guidance and the loan of the willingly provided maps & guides, we were soon exploring Stirling, the Falkirk wheel and the Trossachs, where within a short drive we found Loch Katrine and the opportunity to cruise on the steamship Sir Walter Scott. Breakfast each day was superb and generous. Purpose built to pamper guests the accommodation is spacious and clean, with easy access and parking at the door. Although out of town we had no trouble finding it. Linlithgow is blessed with some fine eateries of which we found Barleo's Italian hard to beat. With a very reasonable tariff for the high class service we received at Arden House, we would strongly recommend it to fellow Australians.

Absolutely sensational in every way. The room was magnificent, the bed and bedding were luxurious. Every imaginable extra was included. Breakfast was the best ever. The full Scottish had everything, best ever black pudding, 98%pork sausages, off the griddle pancakes, wonderful oatcakes, beautiful pears in cinnamon, as much coffee as you want, wish we lived closer. Delightful owner, a wonderful unforgettable experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in the garden view room on the first floor but I am sure that all rooms will be first clas...
