We stayed in one of the yurts - 3 adults, 3 young children - and enjoyed it immensely. They are very comfortable and even in summer, the log burning stove is great at night. Oileán Chléire itself is beautiful, remote and peaceful with great (very hilly) walks. The campsite owners are very friendly and obliging, and genuinely warm. There is a bit of an issue with water supply at times, but this, apparently, is an island-wide issue and generally not a serious inconvenience. Good food in the small cafe attached to the little shop and we even managed to have a birthday cake for an excited 8 year old delivered from the mainland. This is a great place to unwind, switch off your mobile and just relax. I look forward to going back there.

Have been coming to Cape for years and decided to try the campsite this time around. Being new to camping we brought our own Tent, my advise is to book a tipi or a Yurt, the Location is fabulous and Sally and Dave are great, they ll even pick your bags from the ferry. Book accommodation well in advance as tipi and yurts were full when we arrived. We had missed the basking sharks by a day or two had we been there we would have seen them swim past us into the south harbour-
so if you want some peace and quiet and a place to get away from the rat race on the main land - this is the place to go!

Oh wow, we had 9 basking sharks in below the yurts this year!! Even saw one breaching!
Hope to see you again, maybe in a yurt next time!

We stayed there for a night, it was fantastic. The view from the campsite is stunning, the campsite is very quiet and clean. The owners were also very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I am a little late on my review here, we stayed in one of the yurts with 4 kids 1 baby and a dog! we loved it, it was so peaceful and quite! like stepping back in time to a much slower pace more peaceful, the views were amazing and yurt's are very cosy, with everything you need for cooking. Sally and Dave are great, they pick your luggage up from the ferry. made us feel so welcome. we even loved the rain nothing better than listening to rain falling when your tucked up warm in bed! our kids loved it and even did not mind the late night dash to the loo :)

we brought our own food and supervalue will deliver to you if needed, but if you prefer to dine out the food is lovely also!

we did loads of walking around the island it is all hill walking it and enjoyed our stay! hope to get back again someday!

Śtayed at Chleire Haven for 2 nights last June. Location is stunning overlooking the South Harbour. Our yurt was very comfortable and perfect for the four of us. The stove provided great heat for the evenings. It was so tranquil to leave the door open and look out and listen to the sea while relaxing in bed. Sally collected our bags from the ferry and we took our time to wander up to the campsite. Our mission was to visit the Fastnet Rock but the weather didn't permit so we'll have to plan a return visit. I would definitely recommend Chleire Haven as an alternative accommodation choice. All necessary cooking utensils are provided including gas cooker and kettle. Well equipped so worth stocking up and dining al fresco with great views (when the mist isn't down). A real Wild Atlantic Way experience.

Room Tip: Perfect for a family with children on the pull out sofa. Could be a little too crowded for 4 adults.

Thank you for your lovely review. There have been far more Fastnet rock tours this year, so if you return, hopefully you'll have more luck, though calm weather makes it a nicer experience!
