In my book, I would give the Cliffs of Moher a miss and head to Kilkee. There are three major areas of interest on the loop ... 1. A great Cliff Walk from Diamond Rocks, 2. The Bridges of Ross, and 3. Loop Head Lighthouse ... and the only one that costs money is the lighthouse.
1. Diamond Rocks walk ... if you want to do the walk, head for the West End. There is a large car park near a cafe there. The cafe has odd opening hours but the Stella Maris Hotel in town has good coffee and posh loos. The walk is quite stunning ... you are close to the edge and the waves are picturesque. Care is needed on the walk as some parts are steep and slippery but the views are worth the hike.
2. The Bridges of Ross ... are on the scenic loop drive and are worth a visit ... but we only saw 'one' bridge ... quite impressive though. There is a good sized car park at the beginning of the walk to the bridge but no loos. It is worth walking past the actual bridge as the views of the geological formations are quite stunning.
3. The Loop Head Lighthouse ... cost 5 euros each when we visited but proved fair value. The lighthouse is right at the end of the loop drive ... despite how narrow the road gets, 'keep the faith', you do get there in the end! For the entry fee, you do get to go to the top of the lighthouse with a guide, which has great views across the surrounding area. There is one basic loo here but no cafe.
Overall this was a great day out. There are lots of other things that you will find on the loop drive but we were maxed out on these three. A total cost of 5 euros each for a full day versus 6 euros (plus 2 euros for the tower) at the Cliffs of Moher that only lasted less than an hour!
