“Dirty and Loud with rude staff”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Do not stay here. Spend a little more and stay elsewhere. Our carpets were filthy and stained with what looked like vomit, the room was filled with dust and cobwebs, the shower had stains all over it, and there were lots of holes in the walls and a broken picture frame hanging on the wall. Additionally, the room smelled like stale cigarette smoke. The shower was broken so you couldn't adjust the temperature and was scalding hot. To top it off, the hotel is directly above a nightclub, which has salsa dancing until 2AM. Our room was literally vibrating - and this all happened on a Sunday night. When we checked in, the hotel staff was rude. We asked about the nightclub noise and she said, "it shouldn't be a problem." When we asked for a different room, we were told that there wasn't a clean one available, as the housekeeping staff left for the day before cleaning the rooms that were vacant for the night. (We later learned that this was not true when offered another room at midnight due to the noise by a different staff member. This was also above the nightclub so it didn't make a difference). We spoke to a manager the next day and complained, but have yet to receive a refund. Lonely Planet guidebook recommended it... and we can't figure out why. This was a TERRIBLE hotel.

I bought a deal for this hotel for 2 b&b & dinner (main course) on one night for 2 people at an amazing cheap price. When l phoned the hotel to book, the lady was really honest & said that it gets very noisy after the nightclub & if I was o'k with that. We decided to go & we were not expecting anything great ,but from the lovely welcome when we arrived, the bright cheerful room & the lovely meal, we got a lovely surprise. The hotel is situated right in the town centre of Ennis & beautiful scenic drive across the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, Lisdoonvarna & Lahinch. There are lots of lively bars in Ennis & meals are very reasonable. We were not disturbed by any noise, had a great stay & will be back.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay in this hotel. It was a very pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly, pleasant and nothing was a problem.
We dined in cruises bar and we had the nicest sea food chowder (could have been hotter) and fish and chips was to die for! Outstanding value . The waitress was very nice. Bar service was very slow though and the breakfast in queens cafe wasn't great.
The rooms were very basic but clean.
Over all a very enjoyable stay and will definitely return. Great value!

Stayed here a couple of times. My stay was always enjoyable. Everything ran smoothly. Rooms are nice, clean and basic everything you need. Hotel is in a good location for exploring shops, restaurants and the nightlife. Customer service at this hotel is 110% the staff can't do enough for you especially Michael the manger on duty. Looking forward to my next stay.

It was a Wednesday night...front desk staff was very nice, very friendly...gave us directions, gave us a wake-up call...the breakfast in the morning was fine...the guy at the bar, again, was very friendly. The room was basic, quiet, comfortable, just what we needed, at a reasonable price. I'm told there's a loud disco scene happening Thursdays through the weekend, but on a Wednesday night, the place was low-key and low volume. Nice, elegant little lobby. The place is next door to an ancient friari which is worth a visit. In the morning, we walked the 15 minutes to the bus station to catch the bus to Shannon Airport, glad that we had stayed at the Queens rather than paying substantially more at one of the other hotels in town.

First room I had was dirty, no lights worked, large cobwebs on drapes, carpet was not vacuumed, walls marked up, and looked like dried vomit on floor by side of bed. Only the bathroom was nice. They did change room quickly and second room was much better as it was redone. Hotel was not full so why give out a disgusting room in the first place? Hotel staff service overall was poor and came across as if you were bothering them when asking questions. Early morning front desk worker did not know how to check people out of hotel. Nightclub was noisy but nothing too terrible at least for the room I was in. Location was good but Ennis is a small town so really you could stay any where there and it would be good. Would I stay again? No. For a few dollars more stay at the Old Ground.

Room Tip: Ask for a updated room.

Queens provided comfortable beds, as well as a great location well within town, for good rates in Ennis. The one downside would have to be the nightclub below the rooms - if you're wanting a quiet night I'd invest in some ear plugs.
