I was very impressed by this Hotel, my child has a nut/pea allergy and its always a worry when eating out, unfortunately I didn't get the name of the waitress but she was brilliant, as was the rest of the staff. All dishes were explained to both myself and my son, how they were prepared by the chef, a level of detail I have never received before, so well done Chef and staff. As for the Hotel its just lovely and in a perfect location in town, will definitely be back, and would highly recommend.

was there for a hen weekend last weekend. The rooms were enormous as were the beds. Very clean also. We had dinner on the Saturday night and the food was very good also. The main highlight were the staff for me. They couldn't help us enough and even served us breakfast when we were a few minutes late for service. Overall brilliant weekend thanks to the hotel.

On arrival the hotel looked very nice if a little tired. The room was a little small but with a huge bathroom and very comfortable bed. The hotel bar was buzzing all weekend with good value food.there was a group of us there and the staff couldn't have been any more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and even supplied boxes for out birthday cake. Great hospitality all round

Stayed here last weekend and was professionally looked after. My room and enormous bed were so comfy. I would like to compliment the receptionist on duty as she helped me with my parking issues. On that note it would be to the guests advantage if the car park could be better organised. Dinner was tasty and service excellent. I had happy memories of this hotel and was not disappointed. Will be back.

We recently stayed at The Old Ground on the recommendation of a friend and were delighted with the room, food and service. Whilst not very exciting from the outside the interior is charming, nice works of art, comfy lounges, antique furniture. The most helpful staff too - especial Marie on reception who when asked how the hotel got its name kindly printed out the history and had this sent up to our room. Our weekend deal included dinner on one night which we took in the Brendan O'Regan restaurant in the hotel and this was also of a very high standard - beautifully presented food that tasted as good as it looked! The second evening we ate in the Court House which is also part of the hotel, a buzzing atmosphere on a Saturday Night. The hotel bar, Poets Corner, was packed to the rafters and live music playing. The hotel is situated opposite the cathedral and a short step from the main street and the market area. Plenty to see and enjoy. A very good local museum, lots of nice independent shops, and of course lots of bars! We will stay again and would also consider trying the other hotels in the Flynn Group

Dear Jane

thank you so much for such a positive review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. A small historical point of detail - our 2nd hotel restaurant/bistro is called the Town Hall - scene of many historic events in Ennis - but as far as we know was never called the Court House!! It was chosen last year by Paolo Tullio as the best value restaurant in Ireland.

It has a separate listing on Tripadvisor.

Thanks again,

Just returned from a weekend in Clare having stayed in The Old Ground, the staff, the food, and the hotel could not have been better, the weather could have been, but it was a good excuse to sit by the lovely fire looking out at the rain, Second time there and we will be back,

Room Tip: We had a lovely ground floor room never heard a sound.

We stayed 1 night in the Brendan O'Regan suite. What an absolutely beautiful room with sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. Immaculately clean and the bed was extreemly comfy. I had the best nights sleep. Location is excellent. You can exit onto the main street via the bar. Breakfast was superb with a great selection of beautiful foods. The huge asset to this hotel is its staff and in particular the reception staff. They were so genuine and friendly and you get the feeling they have loads of time for you. Very helpful. We dined in the town hall. Food was beautiful and staff were lovely. Our only fault was the tables location where we were seated. We were directly opposite the main door behind a table with wine bottles on it. Everytime the door opened we were hit with a cold draught. It kinda ruined the experience. In fairness staff try to minimise the disturbance by pulling curtains in front of the door but it wasnt sufficient. I suggested to staff maybe having a little partican opposite the door blocking the draught but dont know if it would be something they would do. Best to request seating away from door when booking. All in all we loved our stay and would definitely stay again.
