“Old world elegance and charm”

Not much to Ennis, but convenient for heading out to the Cliffs of Moor (which we found anti-climactic after the Dingle Slea Head drive the day before...) This hotel was really quite lovely with beautiful grounds and lots of "old world" charm to the decor. A spacious room. Recently renovated upholstery. Very comfortable. Pub was fantastic! (must try the chicken liver pâté app, to die for!) Would recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and could find very few faults with this hotel. The food was excellent - breakfast was a treat as there were lovely dishes on the menu. Luckily I stayed 3 nights so I got to sample something new each morning. The service was also excellent, even to the extent of staff holding open doors for me! The bedroom was acceptable in every way: clean, good shower, comfortable bed and it was also quiet so I got great sleeps. The staff were very pleasant: the Polish man at reception dealt very politely with a not-so-nice "lady" who complained about a breakfast her husband received (saying they didn't order it, despite the fact that he accepted the dish, and after he had tasted it decided to complain). In my opinion they didn't deserve the courtesy that this man from reception gave to them (but I suppose that's the hospitality industry - you have to be nice to horrible people!!). The biggest drawback I felt the hotel had was the car park which was always full (I stayed over a weekend). I look forward to a return visit to the Old Ground Hotel some day.

We were invited to a wedding in Clare and the reception was in the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis. We booked into the hotel the night before the wedding, treated ourselves to a beautiful meal in the Poets Corner bar in the hotel, and settled down to listen to the traditional live music. The food and music were divine.
Our breakfast next morning was just what you would wish for on the day of a wedding,
When we returned back to the hotel after the wedding we were treated to some beautiful drinks and canopies on the front lawn .Even though the hotel is located in the centre of Ennis their front gardens are so private and beautifully laid out you might think your were in some country estate.
The wedding reception turned out to be a magnificent occasion, the room layout; the service, the food, and the music were all a credit to the Bride and Groom and to the hotel staff. Next evening we had dinner in The Town Hall which is part of the hotel. The menu was excellent, the food was simply delicious, and our host, Mary was a pleasure to deal with. I would certainly recommend this hotel for a wedding or for a short or long stay. Just great all around

Stayed here as a couple for two nights on the recommendation of a friend. Greeted by lovely staff on arrival and given a large room on the ground floor at the back of the hotel. Had meal in restaurant on first night and the service was exceptional and food delicious. Breakfast was fresh and varied. Music in the bar most nights was very entertaining. Ate in the bar on the second night and again the staff were fab and food delicious. Would highly recommend the hotel to anyone especially as a base to explore local areas

Room Tip: Back of hotel off Main Street would be best option.

This is a beautiful- fun- historical hotel with a lot of class and in a great location-right in the town of Ennis! I enjoyed the adjoining restaurant and pub. The rooms were spacious and I had a wonderful view of the picturesque church right outside my window. I was also fortunate enough to hear some rocking Irish tunes from some of the members of the Willis Clan along with another band that I regrettably do not remember their names (but consisted of three very talented guys) in a fabulous setting in the hotel. The staff was friendly and the breakfast served in the mornings was delicious and very filling. It is an amazing place to stay for all and for any occasion and I hope to be able to return again!

Room Tip: There is an adjoining restaurant and pub that serves wonderful food and you are just steps away from...

Only stayed the one night for a business trip, but could easily have stayed here for a longer duration
The room was spacious with a large bed and pillows and duvet that you can disappear into
The desk had plentiful room if you needed to place your laptop to work from and the flatscreen tv worked perfectly well
Bathroom was also spacious with adequate toiletries - and most importantly, it was all clean.....only downside to the room was lack of bottled water
The hotel bar and accompanying restaurant are both well worth a visit and popular places for even the locals
Breakfast was well serviced and a good choice from both the laid out spread and the a la carte menu
I would actually be comfortable paying more than I did, that's how good the value for money it was
