We went here with my family for the night. One word... overpriced! Terrible TV's, bendy spoons, shammy windows, grimy bathrooms, a slight insect problem, loud neighbors, and impersonal, rude staff. The girls staying there wouldn't even talk to us and the hotel staff would not help us! The restruant attempted to pass as fancy, but failed... miserably! Please do not stay here. We wanted to go for a walk late at night through the hallways, but they were locked! How ridiculous. We were going to go to the girls' rooms but couldn't... apparently you need a key! I will never set foot in this establishment again.
Thank you for taking the time to send feedback following your recent stay. We welcome all constructive criticism as it allows us to build on our strengths and look into any areas that may surface. Bedroom floors are protected with a door through which only guests staying on that specific floor can gain access. This is very much welcomed by guests as it ensures their privacy and safety. It is disappointing that some areas did not meet with your expectations and hope you will give us the opportunity to restore your faith in the hotel sometime in the future.

We stayed in June 2011, had a package of 2 nights B & B with one dinner. Warm welcome from the front desk, efficient but very friendly. Rooms very comfortable with all amenities.
Food excellent. Conveniently in the centre of Ennis but situated in a peaceful place. Will be back.
Thank you for your positive review following your stay at the hotel. You comments on food and service are further testament to the many awards bestowed on the hotel. We encourage guest feedback and are delighted to receive comments such as yours following your pleasant stay. We look forward to welcoming you on many return visits to Temple Gate Hotel.

Stayed in an Executive Room at the Temple Gate, not sure what we got for this other than free bottles of water every day and towelling robes that we didn't use. The room was a reasonable size with a lovely duvet and big pillows but the bed wasn't very big. Ennis is a good location for exploring County Clare, but I wasn't that impressed with the town. Fortunately the food in the hotel restaurant is excellent, both the breakfast and especially the dinners, there is also a pub/bistro if you prefer a more relaxed meal. The most attractive part of the hotel is the old chapel that has been preserved within the building and is now used as a function room but looks magnificient dressed up for a wedding.
Thank you for your positive review following your recent stay with us. You feedback on food has been graciously welcomed by our award winning Chef and his team. The old chapel you refer to is The Great Hall and is where the history of the hotel is most evident. It is a very popular wedding venue fwith its vaulted ceilings and oak beams which combine to create the most original wedding venue in the region. We look forward to you returning to the hotel and perhaps we can recommend some activities and attractions to enjoy when visiting Ennis town.

My Wife and I celebrated our 1st Wedding Anniversary with dinner in Legends Restaurant on Saturday night. The Restaurant was very busy, with a hen party of 40 woman, a few families and many couples, there was a buzz around the place which was very pleasant.
Some people often think that the food and service on a busy night in a Restaurant can vary and be inconsistent but I can honestly say I was very impressed with both. I worked in the Hotel industry for years and know how difficult it is to please everyone, but the staff in the Restaurant seemed to take it in there stride.
Looking around the dining room, which has a lovely feel to it, the diners appeared happy and the food was coming out without delay, serving a party of 40 is not easy, but there was little fuss around the place and none of the other diners were left waiting or unattended.
The choice of menu was extensive, the set Dinner Menu had a choice of 6 starters and 6 main courses as well as a variety of delicious desserts, which I found impressive and very reasonably priced.
We decided to choose fro the A La Carte Menu. The starters came out exactly how they were described on the menu, and you weren't left guessing as to what was on the plate. I had the blue cheese and black pudding with red onion marmalade which was divine. My wife had the prawn and crab meat dumplings which i had a sneak taste off and they were equally as good. We were washing these down with a bottle of Champagne.
Next to the main course. I decided to go for the fillet steak which i rarely eat on a night out, mainly because as a chef I'm hard to please when it comes to cooking a steak properly. Well have no worries ordering a Steak here, it was cooked to perfection (med), cooked evenly and hot throughout and it was as tender as eating jelly, delicious. My wife had the Lamb Cutlets again cooked medium, there were 4 of them on the plate, and all were cooked perfect. The main courses were accompanied by fresh cooked vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and green beans) and garlic gratin potatoes which were lovely and creamy. The main courses were washed down with a bottle of red wine, Badet & Claret which complemented the meal beautifully.
Well onto Dessert, yeah we made room, it would have been ashame not to a least try them, we made it easy for the pastry chef and ordered 2 Eton Mess, which were served in a cocktail glass and very very nice.
To finish, this was one of the best meals I have eaten in years, it was flawless. Complements to the Hotel on a wonderful Restaurant, a real GEM which might no be on the radar for many visitors to Ennis, but don't let this one pass you by, you wont be disappointed.
Thank you for your great comments following your 1st Wedding Anniversary celebration dinner in Legends Restaurant.
In particular the Chef and his team are most appreciative of your complimentary feedback. The hotel has been awarded the AA Rosette award, in recognition of fine food and service since opening in 1996 and was deemed “Best Place to Eat in Clare” in 2010. Your feedback is further authentication of these awards.
Congratulations on your 1st Wedding Anniversary and wishing you many more happy years together. We look forward to welcoming back to Temple Gate Hotel in the near future.
