I loved the experience of staying in Newpark. We stayed as a family with 3 kids ranging from 12 to 19. The grounds were very impressive while still appearing comfortable. The inside of Newpark is simply amazing. I was hit b the impression of travelling back in time while still have all the conveniences of modern living. The rooms were unreal and everyone had a ball! I would for sure recommend it to anyone passing through Ennis.

Declan and Bernie were awesome! Absolutely accommodating and worth the price! We stayed four days while visiting our mother's birth town. We absolutely loved both dogs (Charlie and I can't remember the pretty girl dogs name because Charlie was so crazy cute). We thoroughly enjoyed a very nice English breakfast every morning and the library with tons of books on the area and other classics. My husband says the library is something to behold. They also have a video library so you can watch movies in your room. They have grounds that look like you are in the country even though you are in the city. Once you get off the main road, you totally step into what looks like the 17th Century. We visited Bunratty Castle while there which was awesome as well. There is a shopping center walking distance that has a nice grocery store, liquor store, indian and English restaurants and a pharmacy. All in all, Newpark House was a great find and if in the area again, we will definitely stay again. Oh and did I mention the beautiful décor?

I just spent 2 nights in Declan and Bernie's family home with a couple of friends from LA. I loved the decor and atmosphere of the whole house and particularly of my room overlooking a field lined with a luscious wooded area. Breakfast was top and I enjoyed chatting with Declan and Bernie who are real people with a long experience in hospitality. it was a treat to be their guests.

Room Tip: My room was at the front of the house and was all lit up by the evening sun.

What a breath of fresh this home was after leaving our cramped spaces in London. The breakfast room was large enough to accommodate all the guests at once, and provided lively conversation at breakfast. A reading room that was chock full of all sorts of topics with an emphasis on Ireland, a sitting room with a wonderful fireplace that Decklin regularly add wood to when it was lit in the evening. As another guest mentioned, the dogs were great. Charlie is a small lively dog, Jack Russell Terrier?, that loved to play and equally willing to allow you to pet him.

It is very pastoral with the cows grazing in a fenced pasture out front, the dogs in the front of the house, and other livestock in the back. Thankfully, it did not smell like a farm.

The room had a very large bed with a canopy, two chairs to sit in with a table, ample horizontal space to put things on, and a bathroom that wasn't cramped.

At breakfast, you would have a typical Irish breakfast. That was bacon, sausage, 1 egg as you wanted it cooked, toast and tomato. Bernie was always asking if we wanted more, or if we wanted something different? That was what came from the kitchen. What was already there waiting for us was oatmeal, porridge, 4 different choices of dry cereal, 3 types of whole fruit, prunes, or a prepared fuit. There was also yogurt, sliced loaf bread and scones. There was also butter, preserves and marmalade.

The accommodations were very nice, the owners were available, helpful, but not overbearing, and close enough to Ennis to make it seem to be next door.

So different than our other experience in Ennis staying at Glenomra! Bernie was very nice but Declan gave us the impression he was too busy or maybe just sick of having guests. The next morning when we went down to breakfast and asked for tea, Declan asked why we hadn't made some in the room. And then when we told him we were out of toilet paper, he argued that he had put 2 rolls in. There was only part of one roll when we arrived and we only stayed one night. Bernie seems like the one who should be out front dealing with the guests, although her scones were very good too! The dogs were probably the best part of staying there and although the room was nice, for E100, it just wasn't welcoming enough.

Both Declan & Bernie - dynamic hosts, extremely flexible and accomodating to ones needs. The house has a beautiful dining area where one can spend hours talking whilst eating fresh home made food. Breakfast was available even for my very early morning departure. Thank you.
The bedrooms were clean, spacious, comfortable and excellent bathroom conditions. I was very pleasantly surprised at immediate hot water in the bathroom, given the age of the house. Well done.
Considering the age of the house, interior wood structures etc, it had a fragrance of age. One must expect this and let it grow on one, plus take in the history of the house and its surroundings.
The library and formal sitting area with open hearth fire were lovely. Declan is a well versed geneologist and offers great assistance using his large reference library.
The house location offers quiet, relaxation and a place to gather ones thoughts. It is also only 10 minutes easy car drive to Ennis town.
Thank you for the marvellous time and I look forward to coming once again.
Rob.

We booked at Newpark House on the recommendation of family. It was the perfect introduction to a gracious Irish country home and just a 5 min walk from a great pub/restaurant as well. The charm of the home and grounds, the lovely breakfast presentation, and the welcome of two sweet dogs allowed us to quickly adjust for jet-lag and continue our travel plan. It was like returning home to spend our last night in Ireland here and it was a perfect ending to our trip.
