Glore has a mix of quality local and national touring shows. A medium size venue serving traditional music, historic plays and modern dance. Well worth checking out if you have a free evening in the Ennis area.

Glor is a medium size theatre venue with a number of smaller performance and display areas. It has a daytime cafe (reviewed elsewhere) and a bar which opens for performance intervals. As an attraction it is totally dependent on the entertainment scheduled for a given day.

The theatre is comfortable, minimalist and quite intimate. The bar is the usual manic hive of activity at the interval but is just adequate without any attraction in itself. The extra performance areas are very useful during festivals (such as the Ennis Book Festival) but are just blank canvasses for the promoter. Again it is the event or performance that will decide its value.

Two very positive aspects of Glor are the cafe if attending a daytime event and the extensive displays of artwork which grace every public area of the building. The art is usually part of a exhibition and always of a very high standard.

This is a purpose-built modern theatre gracing the western town of Ennis. It is quite a large facility by Irish standards and is well and professionally equipped and managed with good lighting and sound facilities. And the stage is amongst the biggest in the country. The venue attracts many fine events such as the Chinese State Circus which might never go near a town of this size and a quick look at the listings will show the variety and quality of the acts on offer. Ireland and Irish music and dancing are well represented here. The theatre is also very comfortable and well heated.
On the night that I was there the area in front of the stage was set out in cabaret fashion with a number of small tables and chairs scattered about where people could bring their drinks into the auditorium. That lent a good atmosphere to the proceedings especially given the rather small audience on the night. Good thinking Bat-Man!
The staff are friendly, helpful and very professional in their dealings with the public. Do pay it visit: you will not regret it. And they have a great little professionally-run Café to add to the enjoyment. Look it up if you are in the area. It is within comfortable walking distance of the town centre.

Thank Gretry
