After the rave review in the paper, we visited for a latte and Americano. The young man making the coffees was scruffy but not short of lecturing us on his ideas of coffee. What he did not realise is that our family has been in the coffee roasting business in Portland and Seattle for over 20 years. We found that the young guy had read a lot about coffee but did not really know much more than what he read and only wanted to talk and not listen. The coffees took a long time to make as he was talking about himself the whole time or shouting at his waitress. The coffees were not worth the wait - bitter and burnt tasting Americano and weak latte with hot milk that was not smooth, creamy and shines like a latte should be. Felt very sorry for the waitress who was trying her best to keep customers happy while the guy at the espresso machine was chatting away with no consideration to the customers waiting. Won't be stopping here again on our next trip and will not be recommending it either.

For an establishment that apparently is all about the coffee they should get the basics right. We waited 15 minutes for two coffees which were then delivered to us cold. It appeared to take two waitresses to make said coffees and get them to us. There were three staff on duty but no sense of a bustling or dynamic environment. The place had a pretentiousness belied by the service and quality of product. Ennis is full of coffee shops so to make an impression it needs more than a quasi hipster approach to the quality of coffee.

As previous reviews went to Suas on my day off after the top 10 coffe shops hype from Irish Times ( it was more a "who sells 3fE in Ireland", after visiting 6 on the list). As you come in you already seeing a dirty coffee station, messy, and unhygienic; definately not a proffesional Barista at work, he is not even in a clean uniform. Your eyes then set on more dirt and messines in the kitchen area, not a promise of good food. The lad in not so clean street clothes doing coffee takes an average of 10 minutes!!! for your coffee, sure you stay long enough you seeing running for the teaspoon for your coffee once is already made and getting cold. Not making it either for good value.
Also , as per in the nespaper review, there is no book club or live music announced.
As a Barista myself for 10 years in Galway and abroad, i never seen such a bad, slow work done to a decent bean by , as another reviewer put it, a holier than thou know it all.
Avoid.
p.s. I agree the waitresses should abandon a rapidly sinking ship

My husband and I visit 3fe in Dublin quite a bit. Lovely place! Gorgeous coffee! We had been talking to one of the baristas and had mentioned our upcoming trip to Clare for a wedding and we were advised Suas was the place to go and had been named in an Irish Times Top 10 list.
I'm not sure if anyone from 3fe has actually been to Suas but I feel this café is reflecting poorly on the brand.
Besides the wait for coffee after ordering (which, by the way, was criminal!) when the waiter actually gave us our coffee he spent an insane amount of time pushing the coffee on us. We know what good coffee is! We get it in Dublin all the time! He was more interested in talking about the coffee than making other coffees which were so evidently been waited for by other customers.
I think this cafe is a bad reflection of 3fe's standards that I have come to know and love!
Will not return. Would advise others to give it a miss. Not worth the wait or the 'holier than thou' attitude from coffee know-it-alls!
