“two nights break at the auburn lodge hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2013

We stayed two nights Sunday and Monday. The Restaurant was closed so we only had bar food which was very poor. I had the pasta dish which was very bland and the only ingredient seemed oil and cream. Despite eating little I had an upset stomach for the next two days which definitely was a result from that dish. My friend ordered steak (medium) and got it well done. She also described it as poor in taste and it seemed to us, whoever was on duty in the kitchen that night couldn't care less.
The room was good value for money.
Staff wasn't particularly friendly or attentive. We handed the remote control to reception (as it needed new batteries) and never got it back. Which wasn't a big deal but just didn't help to make the experience any better. Leisure centre was fine though. If it hadn't been for the food I might recommend staying there if you get a good deal. Location is good too and breakfast is above average compared to many other hotels. But stay away from the food in the bar!!

We stayed in the hotel for a weekend break, with two your young kids, This weekend would would not have gone so well only for the friendly and helpfull staff of the hotel. The only other time I experience customer level to this standard was in a 5 star hotel. An example was when the manager went out of his way to find us a seat in the bar after we just arrived for a bite to eat with baby and young toddler.

Room Tip: Try and get a ground floor room, as there is no lift to the second floor

Number of travellers - 3
Room - Triple Room (2 single beds and 1 double bed). (Breakfast included)

Room:
Positives:
Comfy beds.
Clean.

Negatives:
Bathroom could really do with a re-vamp.
Thin walls - You can hear people using the bathroom.
Lack of wardrobe space (ok for a weekend away but not long term)

On the hotel itself:
Location of the hotel is out from ennis town.
Friendly staff.
Food is just average. Although , the sandwich i got from room service was very tasty.

All in all, this hotel is good for a weekend stay. Some areas need to be addressed , such as a smoking area for guests as this hotel is all non smoking.

This is the first time I have felt the need to write a review,
The lobby is nice and staff are helpful, that is where the positives end.The bedrooms must have been decorated twenty years ago and has not seen a penny since. They are completly run down brown tiles in bathroom plain white walls in the bedrooms the worst green curtains I have ever seen ancient TV. I left my phone at home otherwise I would have put up plenty of pictures. The hallways are like a state hospital.
There is no thought put into the food, it is bland and just dropped on the plate. Nearly all of the staff are friendly especially the girls serving breakfast, the exception to this was one waiter in the bar who is more interested in singing loudly in the kitchen behind the bar or texting on his phone then serving customers. Not what you want when you are waiting to order food.
Serious investment needed to bring this hotel up to any standard before I would consider returning.
I suggest you look at the other travellers pictures before booking this hotel .

We arrived to a lovely welcome after a long journey. Staff were great in all aspects and the hotel on arrival seemed warm and nicely decorated. However the room itself was very outdated and worn and needed to be properly cleaned, simple as.

Nice welcome by receptionist , room was very old fashioned I was shocked that this hotel has a 3star rating. Our room was such a let down everything was old and worn no excuse in my opinion for this standard in today's world. Staff was very nice and hard working , the menu in the bar is out of date and the food is such poor quality items on the menu do not match what is presented, cheaper cheese on burgers then what is on the menu, over cooked veg nothing is seasoned come on is bar food that hard to get right ?
When we were staying there was a big function on in the hotel we asked to speak to the manager after getting our meal in the bar, we're were so let down by the room and then the meal that we felt we should bring it up , he was so nice he insisted on taking back our meals and making sure they were done right, he moved us to a superior room, at 5 am there were people playing hurling in the corridor again it was the same man who came up to deal with it.
I would return again if we got a superior room.
