“Very Poor Service”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

This hotel is a disgrace. The service is very poor, the food is average at best and it's on the pricey side . We went to the bar for lunch and waited for the lady at the till to stop her conversation with the chef to place our order she had no more interest then the man on the moon. We kept it simple soup and a toastie - we waited about 25 mins for the food and eventually went up the lady hadn't ordered it and more or sighed when she had to go get the soup. There were tradesmen of some sort hammering away at something behind the bar this right in the middle of lunchtime. We aren't fussy by any means but this hotel is dated the service is horrible and they really have no interest in customer satisfaction. If you want to eat go to McDonalds down the road much better service.

I was unfortunate enough to stay here for one night recently. Nothing about the stay was enjoyable ,the staff were standoffish , not unhelpful but not very friendly. The room was very basic, clean but dark and dismal in fact the window in the room looked straight down a corridor in the adjoining building so curtains had to be pulled at all times. As for the breakfast I would say it was without doubt the worst breakfast I have ever had in Ireland
and the attitude of the staff was " take it or leave it"

The hotel is comfortable, clean, well equipped and spacious. The rooms are well sized with good facilities, and the staff are friendly and couteous but somehow there is just nothing that really grabs you about the hotel. One gets the impression that it designed more for large business groups and conferences rather than tourists and casual visitors. I guess if I had to use one word to describe the hotel, it would be 'efficient'. If that is what you are after, the hotel will fit the bill. If you want a genuinely relaxing and enjoyable experience, perhaps there are better options available.

Room Tip: The hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren with a 100 rooms all on the same level. Be prepared for some...

After reading many reviews I was very weary about staying here. We arrived 7pm on a Friday night. We checked in and went to the bar for food. Everybody was pleasant and good was tasty and everywhere was busy. We had a large room very warm but very cosy and clean. Shower was a bit of a nightmare but everything else made it worth it. The pool was lovely and spotless and the lady at reception was very happy and friendly. Lovely spot and so easy to travel around from here. Would recommend for a weekend stay.

Stayed at auburn lodge on the 18th and 19th of April and we were very impressed . Great welcome for the kids when checking in with little Easter eggs at the desk for the kids and plenty of info about what was going on in the hotel.
The room was a major disappointment very old fashioned and basic not what we though we were getting from the picture on there website would be five stars if not for this, we did not spend much time there, great leisure centre with very nice friendly staff.
Kids club was fantastic and such a welcome break the boys were fed and entertained on both evenings and had a egg hunt on Sunday evening included in the price.
It was unbelievable value and we will be back next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the foyer or else you will be walking forever

We stayed at this hotel in April and overall it was a pleasant stay.
The food was good and there was live music in the bar on both nights.
There is a good pool but the hotel is not within walking distance of the town centre.
The one weak point is that while the service was good, they are in no way child-friendly in their attitude.
We had several children and teenagers with us and both sets were scolded by certain members of the staff when they were doing nothing wrong.
Bar this attitude, I would recommend it as a budget break hotel assuming that yuo have a car.
