Owner description: Fota Wildlife Park is Cork's most visited Tourist Attraction and has been awarded best family day out in Cork and Munster. The Park is set on 70 acres on the scenic Fota Island in the heart of Cork Harbour only 15 minutes from Cork City (top 10 in the best cities to visit in the Lonely Planet guide's 'Best in Travel 2010').The park is not like an ordinary zoo; here you can come face to face with free roaming animals & birds from all parts of the world. So whether it's a kangaroo that hops in front of you or a ring tailed lemur which jumps down from a tree, each visit is sure to bring its own fantastic memories. In addition to the wonderful array of free roaming animals, visitors also have the opportunity to see highly endangered species such as the Rothschild giraffe, European Bison, Lion Tailed Macaque and Scimitar Horned Oryx, most of them without the obstacle of fenced-in exhibits. This is the most spectacular aspect of Fota Wildlife Park, and is the reason you'll want to spend a full day exploring Ireland's Wildest Attraction.

There is more of an emphasis on proximity to the animals and the domestic fowl all roam free. There is currently 30th birthday celebrations and the kids will love the Bosco puppet show. Not by any extent a comparison to a major international zoo but a different experience and a lovely day out.

My wife and I decided to visit FOTA while in Ireland in May, 2013. The train ride from Cork was on 15 minutes through beautiful scenery and the train stop was right at one of the park entrances. We absolutely enjoyed walking through the park and seeing the animals up close and in an almost natural environment. We both think it is worth the time, and the money to see this attraction.

Good day out , pretty expensive but enjoyable especially when the weather is pleasant. Food provided on site is poor in terms of quality for kids and price so bring your own lunch and drinks. Paying for parking on top of the park fees is laughable.

Large number of the similar type animals in the main area of the park but the environment is good and safe.

Worth a visit if your in the area.

We visited Fota recently and while the animals and birds were worth seeing --€14.30 per adult was way too much. People don't have that kind of cash for just to see the animals -- think you need to review prices

We appreciate your feedback. The running costs of the park are very high and as we are a non for profit charity organisation we rely on ticket sales to provide funding to keep our wildlife happy and healthy and we always strive to give visitors value for their money. We have some exciting new things coming up soon so maybe on your next trip to Fota Wildlife Park you'll see the park in a new light. Thanks.
