I spent two weeks in Ireland in late summer of 2011 and stayed in a different B&B each night. I cannot tell you how very much I enjoyed and loved Maranatha Country House. Douglas and Olwen were absolutely wonderful and I so enjoyed visiting with them and their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren from Perth, Australia. Their home is incredibly beautiful, as well as the grounds surrounding. And, by the way, that Corvette was to die for! *big smile* I'll return to Ireland, and when I do, I can hardly wait to visit Maranatha Country House again! I loved the fact that these are precious people of God and was so abundantly blessed by getting to know them. Hopefully, I'll see them again this year. I can hardly wait! If you go to Ireland, this is a MUST in your search for a B&B that is so very much more than just a B&B. Blessings.

A truly wonderful stay- the rooms are huge- a true country estate with decor and furnishings reflecting a 'manor home'. Extremely clean, very comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, this B&B was minutes to Blarney. Elwyn was very helpful, suggesting a local pub for dinner, and making reservations for us. Turned out to be the best meal we had on our trip (Blair's Inn). The breakfast conservatory at Maranatha was beautiful- overlooking the nicely landscaped back yard. The breakfast buffet was substantial and quite good- the usual fare of irish bacon, eggs, toast, yogurts, cereals, etc, but also croissants, and scones, jam, and fresh cream. All in all, Elwyn made us feel like friends rather than customers, and we easily could have been happy staying here the nature week.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay at Maranatha Country House. Our trip took us to several bed & breakfast accommodations and this was by far the very best. We loved our room and the food was delicious. The grounds are beautiful which made for some wonderful photo opportunities. A wonderful, warm and welcoming place. We have recommended to all our friends to visit when they are in Ireland. When we return to Ireland again, we will absolutely be staying here.

Room Tip: Lots of choice for breakfast from a full breakfast to the lighter side. Food always delicious.

This is a beautiful old place, the owners are very nice and friendly. We were lead directly into the breakfast room and sitting room when we got in and were left there to wait for 5 minutes or so. While waiting we noticed we were being watched by two, rather large porcelain dolls in period clothing which, after discussing over dinner, we all decided was a little creepy. Despite this, we liked it here, if the dolls were to go, we would consider going back. I do agree however that handing out religious material just as you are about to leave is going a little too far though.

Just to give a wee background to the dolls. They are souvenirs from a recent visit we made to our daughter and her family who live in Perth Australia. We spotted them in one of the main gift stores in Perth, and because they are, 'umbrella dolls' that fold up (like an umbrella) for travelling we thought they would add a bit of beauty in our living room - their appearance being like that of fancy dressed young ladies from the Victorian era - and also, they would be a bit of fun for the children of some of our guests. And, yes, unsurprisingly these days I suppose, when we got home, we then spotted the 'Made in China' labels sewn on a part of the umbrella section!!!

It was a really, really nice country home and we were very impressed with the lovely outside. Then, I knew it was a real winner when I saw the HUGE dog at the front door - a German shepherd called Sampson. Under the big round table in the formal foyer was a funny mixed dog called Jenny. The house was really Victorian, richly decorated and with lots of rooms. We were all in a family room, called The Honeymoon Suite, which was really weird, since there were two beds! Beautiful location with a nice garden, and the breakfast room was to die for - sunny and full of flowers and trellises and beautiful table settings. Loved it!

We love our stay here. It felt like we were staying in an old manor house. I loved the dogs which were very friendly and loved attention. Our room was HUGE with a king size bed and a twin bed with a sitting are. It was decorated in gold and ivory. The bathroom had everything we needed and a really good hot shower. You should know that the rooms do not have televisions. This didn't bother us, but we know many visitors like to unwind in front of the television at night. The hostess is a lovely, gracious, friendly woman. Breakfast was great with a large selection of cereals, yogurt, fruit, juices, eggs, meats etc. We enjoyed yogurt with granola and fruit, but could have eaten as much of everything as we wanted. Breakfast is served in the sun room overlooking the sprawling laws. The room is cozy and comfortable. Maranatha isn't actually in Blarney, it is in Tower which is connected to Blarney. It is convenient to Blarney and Cork. We highly recommend Maranatha Country House and will definitely stay there again when we visit Ireland in 2012.

Room Tip: All rooms are great!

We stayed here on our absolutely wonderful trip to Ireland, and this was one of the the high lights! The home is beautiful, the breakfast was fantastic. As fas as the room, the bed was sumptious (comfy), the bathroom was modern and clean. The hostess was sweet and very helpful. Loved Jennie the dog and the other sweet dogs (we missed our old guy). Think about staying here, if you're in this area, it's one of the nicest places we've EVER stayed!
