I stayed here for three days but would happily have made it a week. The Anam Cara is an easy walk from the centre of town directly opposite the plush River Lee Hotel, supposedly Cork's finest, but I know where I would rather stay, regardless of the cost.
The Anam Cara is small friendly and comfortable with an excellent cafe/restaurant attached. Breakfast from the brunch menu which includes eggs benedict and local smoked salmon and scrambled eggs is included in the price and you would walk a long way to find anything else as nice. The owners are friendly but don't force guests to engage in conversation.
My pet hates include foam pillows and cheap duvets and luckily the Anam Cara has neither. The ensuite bathroom was compact but more than adequate. The only thing it lacked was a shelf/rack into the shower to put toiletries.
I wish all b&bs were like this.
