“Breakfast in historic surroundings”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We walked into town from the River Lee Hotel for a quick breakfast and we both had a sausage blaa (white bun) and coffee. The architecture of the cafe (top floor of the English Market) is wonderful and the cafe keeps true to this, which gives this place its nostalgic feel. Well worth a visit if you're in Cork.

“Good but Service Needs Work”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We both got the special for the day (farm raised thyme lemon chicken with mash and carrots). It was spectacular and you could tell the difference between free range in Ireland from the farm raised in the US. The beer selection was local and terrific and the setting on the second floor overlooking the English Market was a great memory. The only issue was the head server of the restaurant, who was understandably very busy, was much more curt with us than what we're used to.

“Satisfying”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Nice place, but is far too pricey in comparison to other great places in Cork. Had a nice sandwich but felt the price was not justified. However, I will return and try the chowder which I assuming should be tasty as the restaurant has such magnificent access to beautiful fish.

“A must if in Cork”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Went here for lunch based on TA reviews. Not much new to say but to continue to endorse the reputation of this small restaurant that sits on the second floor of the English Market. You order when entering and are seated after order/pay. Our food was fantastic. Fresh and plentiful. Lamb stew was delicious. Desserts all looked amazing. We had flourless chocolate cake - heavenly. The market itself is quite small but fun to tour and many items such as jams and candies made locally to pack and bring home.
