“Another Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014

My wife and i stayed here as we were meeting friends in Cork. We went to the reception at around 11am to see if we could leave our luggage but the room was ready for us, which was excellent. We had a family room on the first floor which was large and spacious. The only downside was when you flushed the toilet there would be an uneartly whine until the water filled in. The beds are very comfortable and the staff are very friendly as one would expect. It is rather old fashioned but I like the character of the place. The breakfast is delicious and you have a choice of fried or poached eggs made for you. It is in an ideal location in the centre of town. We shopped around and got the bed and breakfast cheaper on a 3rd party website which unfortunately the hotel couldn't match. Next we go to Cork we will definitely be staying at the Imperial.

We stayed for one night to attend a concert locally. We had booked a premier room but were upgraded to the penthouse. What a lovely surprise. Room was lovely. Staff and service were super. One small complaint though. Ordered a meal in the bar before the gig and when it arrived it was practically cold. Didn't have time to send it back so had to make do. I would stay again as I am hoping that was a one off.

I stayed here for one night for a concert. From the moment of our arrival the staff went out of there way to make us feel welcome. The room was clean and the breakfast gorgeous. It was a bit expensive but no more than any hotel was charging on that weekend. I would be a bit claustaphic and as our room window was enclosed by walls i felt this to be a slight problem. My only other problem was the hard pillows, but that is a personal thing as my companion loved the pillows. Overall an excellent hotel and a great experience. I would highly recommend a stay in this hotel.

Stayed for one night for a wedding the meal was in the hotel. Was sorry did not have more time in Cork seems like a very friendly city. The hotel is situated in the city centre with beautiful high ceilings and marbel interior . Staff are helpful and friendly ,room was clean and spacious . Breakfast was very good the staff in the dining room were excellent and so very efficient .Some of the younger wedding guests were a little late for breakfast but that did not seem to be a problem unlike other hotels I have stayed in if you were five minutes late you would hardly get a coffee. Oh and the coffee was delicious . Only one complaint there was loud music playing not sure if it was inside the hotel or outside on the street until the early hours of the morning.

Room Tip: Find out if there is music anywhere and keep well away from it

Bar food and service excellent. Parking no problem and availabilty of taxis to take us to our venue for concert no probelm either. Shopping is on the doorstep. Only complaint would be that it was very very warm and the room needed air conditioning. We will stay there again, next time in Cork.

The Imperial Hotel is so lovely! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The garage was a bit of a hike for us, but we managed. Ms. O'Leary, the manager, is a gem. We arrived late and tired after a long day of travel. She was kind and patient and even enquired after us the next evening. Breakfast was delicious and dinner was tasty. We loved Cork and will return!

Booked this online, based on the pictures on their website. Bar and tearoom were lovely and a very friendly guy on reception. We had to wait for our room and we were very happy with our initial impressions of the hotel. But the bedroom, OMG, wha a small, dark, dingy dive. I still can't believe we actually (tried) to sleep there for the night. Avoid, is my recommendation.

Room Tip: Insist on a modern room like one on their website.

Dear MusicLov,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your recent stay at the Imperial Hotel.

It is never easy to read such a poor review but we do really appreciate your valued feedback.

We also appreciaite your kind comments regarding South's Bar and Lafayettes French style Bistro but we are extremely disappointed that your room did not meet with your expectations. We sincerely apologise for this but would also urge anyone who has a complaint to bring this to the attention of the Manager on Duty during there stay with us. Perhaps the situation could have been rectified to your satisfaction there and then by allocating you another bedroom.

I would be grateful if you could contact me directly so we can discuss the issues in more detail.

In the meantime, thank you once again for your feedback.

Thanking you,

Kind regards,
Anne
