“A gorgeous hotel with spa”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

We took the two night pamper package which was excellent value. The hotel has excellent facilities including a good standard restaurant, large bar and coffee shop. Location is very central with everything you need within a short walking distance. The hotel is very grandeur and rooms are a good size but could do with updating. This was my first spa break and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We stayed in the Imperial Hotel for 2 nights, both of them in warm weather, and found the lack of air con made our room very hot. The helpful staff provided a fan but there is only so much a fan can do. However, the room was spotless, the bed comfortable, and the hotel's location is very good. The breakfast was mediocre considering the cost; I would recommend you go elsewhere if you can.

Dear Ruth T,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us at the Imperial Hotel. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay with us.

Your feedback regarding the breakfast has been passed on the management team.

Regarding the air conditioning, I will take your point on board as this is a major capital investement to instal air conditioning in this historic hotel.

Should you be returning to Cork in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Warm regards,
Anne

The hotel and its staff are lovely. Our room, though, was on the second floor, overlooking a street with noisy pubs that stayed open until 2 a.m. (when the pubgoers flooded into the streets and loudly waited for taxis for the next hour). We visited during a hot spell in summer, and there's no air-conditioning here, so it was a choice between broiling and hearing every beat of the bad reggae band. After the first night, we asked the desk for a fan; they happily provided one, and they also put sheets on the beds so we weren't stuck with only duvets. They also promised us that the next night wouldn't be loud quite so late, but that turned out to be untrue. (If we'd known that and had been willing to schlep all our luggage to a different room, we'd have asked to be moved.) Despite our difficulty sleeping, the room was comfortable, very clean, and large, with a nice bathroom. So really, I might have given this place five stars if we'd been in a quieter room.

The breakfast was really nice--delicious scones and other goodies on the buffet, with eggs cooked to order on request. Also, the Cork shops (and loud popular pubs) are a quick walk away.

Dear Knitcat,

It was lovely to read your favourable commenst following your recent stay at the Imperial Hotel, I do apologise about the late night noise from the neighbouring pubs!

It was a pity that we did not get the opportunity to resolve the noise issue by moving your room during your stay with us.

Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind regards,
Anne

The best thing about this hotel was its location. The staff are friendly - but thats about it.

When I pay three figures for a room I dont like surcharges for normal items at check in
1. Parking - €10 and its across the river - not very convenient.

2. Leisure facility - €20 per person extra.

3. Breakfast €12 per person.

The rooms are not up to standard with cracked shelves rusty rails and crackedtiles on floor.

There will not be a repeat visit.

Dear Petermulv,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback regarding your recent stay with us at the Imperial Hotel.

I was dissapointed to learn of the issues you experienced and I regret not having the opportunity to resolve them during your stay:

- As an old historic hotel we do not provide onsite car parking but we offer guests the option of parking in a secure car park about a 5 mintes away from the hotel. There is a very nominal charge of €9 for overnight parking.

- Regarding the spa there is an additional once off charge of €18 per person for the use of the vitality suiite in the spa, this allow guests unlimited use of the hydrotheropy pool with specialised jets and also the aroma and salt grottos.

- Breakfast is €14.95 per person but at the moment we are offering our room only guests a special offer breakfast price of €12.50 per person. The breakfast consists of a large hot and cold buffet offering a varied selection of juices, cereals & porride, selection of fruits, cold meats, cheese, yougurt & muesli fuit pots. Large selection of homemade breads and pastries. Our hot buffet includes hickory smoked back bacon, sausages, Clonakilty black & white pudding, hash browns, tomatoes, mushrooms and selection of eggs cooked to your liking.

I was pleased to read that you enjoyed the location of the hotel along with the friendly staff in the hotel.

Thank you for choosing the Imperial Hotel on your recent visit to Cork.

Kind regards,
Anne

The lobby of this hotel is photo worthy and amazingly beautiful, but my room is a bit outdated. The beds are very comfortable and the room is neat and clean but the furniture needs updating. There is no air conditioning which could be a problem on a hot day, but there is a fan which I have been using to circulate the air. The bathroom is very neat with tiled floors and a deep tub. So far the staff has been incredibly helpful and friendly, checking in was a breeze and the doorman helped with my bags. This hotel could be amazing if there rooms were updated with more modern conveniences and better furniture.
