“great for a night out in the city”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

The Imperial Hotel is right in the centre of Cork city and is a great choice for exporing the city and enjoying the nightlife. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The rooms are clean, comfortable and pleasantly quiet for a hotel looking out onto a busy street like the South Mall. A large selection of restaurants, bars and nightclubs are within short walking distance of the hotel and there is a smiling doorman to let you in when you return in the early hours. Breakfast was delicious too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We were very happy with our short stay. V.helpful and pleasant staff. Set dinner menu a bit dull. We didn't think we would bother with the afternoon tea but it was a lovely surprise before we left cork. The old world grandeur of the building is delightful and the room had all necessary modern facilities, including a fan and a window that opened. A bottle of presentable wine was waiting in our room on arrival.

Room Tip: Street noisy up to midnight but we did sleep v well after that (Wednesday night) . Room was fresh an...

Deciding to stay in this hotel during a recent short break was undoubtably a great decision. The accommodation and food could not be bettered but the real stars were the staff, from reception to the bar staff to the concierge they were simply amazing. The location in the heart of the shopping and entertainment district makes it a must stay place for future visits to Cork.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the air conditioning units.

My son and I recently stayed at this hotel. The food, service, etc., was excellent. It is very efficiently run and staff were really helpful. It was excellent value for money but do ask for a quiet room as it is in the centre of Cork City.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room when booking. The staff were v helpful to me when I had to change room.

We had an unexpected trip to Cork last April at very short notice and booked into the Imperial Hotel for 2 nights . This well established hotel is situated right in the centre of Cork . There are no parking facilities but parking is available on the other side of the river at a very reasonable daily charge . We traveled by train so it was not an issue for us on this occasion . The train station incidentally is just a short taxi ride to the hotel - approx 10 euro .
This is a beautiful hotel with well appointed rooms The breakfast was excellent and a great variety to cater for all tastes .As our stay was short with personal commitments we only managed one evening dinner and again this was excellent.
On a historic note there is a portrait of Michael Collins , Irish politician and freedom fighter. Apparently he stayed in the Imperial on the night before he was assassinated in Beal Na Blath West Cork . This was our second time to stay in the Imperial and certainly will not be our last.

Stayed here for one night, and it was exactly what we wanted. Very central, just a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants and bars. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, bar in the hotel was nice too. The room was a little dated but it was spotless and had a large comfortable bed. Only slight inconvenience is the lack of parking (you park in a carpark a couple of minutes away), but very few city center hotels have parking!

2 couples spent a two night break in the Imperial- absolutely fabulous everything from the accommodation, the service, the food, the staff, the central location and of course the building. We would definitely recommend the hotel for these reasons

Room Tip: Rooms on the South Mall can be noisy from outside traffic
