“Great place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013 via mobile

Me and three friends were looking somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay as we were going to a concert, we booked this as it was cheap. Great place in a great location and has a good mix of tourists everyone was welcoming and friendly. The staff were very friendly and helpful the hostel was clean and great value for money :)

We stayed here in a dorm with an ensuite for a weekend in Cork. This place was great. Our room was clean and very comfortable and the wifi worked well. The staff were really helpful and it's in a great location. The bar downstairs has great deals and we didn't notice any noise from it when we eventually went off to bed. There are really good kitchen facilities too. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

When we first got to Bru-Bar, I was slightly scared that this would be where I was TAKEN. It just felt really sketchy at first, and our room was tiny.. buttttttt I was completely wrong! This was probably one of the best nights of our trip. I've noticed some complaints about wifi.. mine worked well in the room so maybe they have fixed the issues since then?? The location is great - close to everything! The staff & the bar were the best parts. We were on the second floor and it was really quiet when we went up to bed even though the bar was still loud. There was live music at night, and the atmosphere just made for a great time. The staff made the night even better by being just SO friendly - they even went up on stage themselves! Maybe the small room would have been annoying for a longer stay, but we definitely loved bru bar

Great hostel location from the main bus stop in Cork. Literally a 5 min walk away. Rooms were spacious, with great mattresses and sufficient space under the beds to store personal items. Staff were friendly and very helpful with travelling trips. The bar was the highlight of the trip. A really lively place with live music every night, it was a great place to meet new people. Definitely want to visit this place again. I love Cork!

Otherwise ok, good location and friendly staff, but the room was tiny.
Three girls travelling with three bags, it was a nightmare trying to get dressed or do anything in the room. We had also paid for an en suite, but it was still in the corridor and we needed a key to get in there so it didn't really feel like we had our own bathroom.
But for a short stay the Bru Bar Hostel is fine. The Bar was nice and it had a lovely terrace + you got a discount from Bulmers ciders if you were a guest!

Bru bar and hostel is settled in a perfect location and you never have to walk far anywhere! The staff were quite friendly although it did seem abit disorganised when i was there.! The bar is small but lively with live music every night which is great if you don't feel like adventuring out too far! Wifi is really slow and doesn't work too well though and the rooms are absolutely tiny, if you don't keep your bags under the bed then there is no way you'll make it in the door and to your bed without tripping over something! Pretty average beds and bathrooms and not a fan of the push the button showers which stay on for 10 seconds! Overall though fairly decent place to stay if your not in Cork for long!

Stayed for 1 night last weekend, super friendly kiwi owner checked us in. Gave us tickets to an event at the Beamish Brewery. Room was fine, clean, tidy. Bunk beds ok, pillows were abit flat though - maybe time for an upgrade? Toilet paper in bathroom dispenser was left wrapped so was near impossible to get any out it. Blind over window did not roll up and down, so was down all the time. No biggie as we were not in the room much. 2nd floor room was pretty quiet considering live music downstairs till late. Great bar downstairs, yummy pizzas & good selection of drinks. Staff were really friendly. Breakfast was simple, cereal, toast, tea & coffee. All included for less than 17 euro each - awesome value. Very handy to everything and a short walk over the water to main shopping area & tour buses etc. Would def recommend & stay again - thanks guys :)

Hi Girls! Thanks for the comments! You only have to pull off the outer wrapping of the toilet roll and u'r away. The window blinds are only fixed before someone comes and breaks them again! I'm looking into alternatives. And finally pillows, I just ordered 100 new ones! Yes they were flat, so anyone reading this, BIG NEW FLUFFY PILLOWS AT BRU FROM MONDAY THE 10th JUNE 2013!!
Come and try them out! :) Ash.
