“Great for the price”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

I've stayed at several Cork hotels, so this is an informed opinion.

Pros: the bathroom was nice; updated, clean, and stylish, but not big.
The staff is so pleasant and kind, much like the rest of Cork (and Ireland).

Cons: The room was really plain and looks into another building, albeit a nice brick building.
I bought wifi, but it did not work in my room; the wifi in the lobby only worked for any of my 3 devices when I used my purchased code... it was supposed to be free.
It was a tad bit noisy, and might bother a light sleeper

Despite the cons, this is a fine hotel if you're looking for a great location, great price, and modest accommodations. It was clean and friendly, and connected to a wonderful restaurant.

Greene's restaurant is great, but does book up, so make resos.

We have recently visited Isaacs on a 4 night city break. We were looking for something central and were not disappointed. The hotel is within easy reach of both bus and train stations. Although it is on one of the busiest roads, as soon as you enter the courtyard with the lovely waterfall, the traffic and busy city seems a world away.
The staff were all very nice and greeted us each time we came back from our explorations. The room we were in was spacious, clean and our shower was great. We did have an issue with our room during our stay but we were quickly moved without any fuss - even though it was the early hours - thank you
Breakfast is great whether you have continental or full Irish.

The hotel is within easy walking distance from the bus station and main shopping and dining areas of. The staff at the front desk was professional. The room was very spacious and clean. Management should however consider switching from blankets to duvets. Whilst I believe/trust that hotels change their duvet covers every time new guests occupy I room, I am not sure that is the case with blankets. It was quite cold in Cork - I therefore had no choice but had to use the the blanket. Our room, which looked out on the street, was very noisy: two pubs, a bus stop and a local theatre are just across the street.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind comments regarding your stay at Isaacs Hotel & Apartments – your comments are greatly appreciated and are very helpful to us in ensuring that we can continue to meet and indeed exceed the expectations of our guests.

With regard to the question of Duvets versus Blankets, we actually offer Duvets in many of our rooms whilst a smaller number of rooms are dressed in the traditional style. At present we are redecorating a number of our bedrooms and as part of that process we are hoping to decide upon a style of room décor and fit out that we would continue throughout a number of rooms. I am sure that this will entail the majority of our bedrooms being presented with a Duvet style arrangement.

In the meantime, if you are planning a return visit, pleased do request the duvet style arrangement at the point of reservation and we will be delighted to accommodate you.

Sincerely,

Brian Harrington

The hotel served as a great jumping off point to see the rest of Cork. When you turn the corner to enter the hotel you will be taken aback by the courtyard, with the greenery and the waterfall you almost feel like you are in the tropics. The hotel room was a little bit dated, but clean and had everything you need. However, the price for the room was amazingly low, so I was very happy with the value of the room.

I think the rooms here are from 1962. The room stank of musk and maybe sweat. I think there was a plastic sheet beneath the bed sheet which will make you sweat bucket in your sleep. Out shower was a drizzle, an the towels were made from sandpaper.

The lift is an interesting experience to say the least.

Breakfast is alright, although the chef is a grumpy lunatic.

We paid €106 for one night B&B, outrageous price for what it is.

It's location is handy as it's right beside a Hillbilly's chicken shop.

I will not be staying here again.

Dear Guest PJStafford

Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to share your feedback of your recent stay at Isaacs Hotel & Apartments. We greatly appreciate such feedback, as often it is only through guest feedback, that we can attempt to maintain and improve the standards which we set.

Please accept our sincere apologies to the disappointment caused to you during your stay primarily as a result of the accommodation provided to you. We fully accept that an unpleasant smell in the room is not acceptable, and unfortunately there was a problem with the shower in your room that we have not been aware of before your arrival. We will also look into the quality of towels delivered to us.

With regards to the presentation of the room, we are planning on carrying out some further refurbishments to our bedrooms and apartments in the coming months. As part of such refurbishment which includes the Room in which you stayed, we will endeavour to update the decor and furnishing of the rooms.

I have investigated your experience at breakfast and wish to sincerely apologise to all concerned. I can assure you that this is far from the norm at the Hotel and that we will do our utmost to prevent a similar reoccurrence.

We do hope that you might consider visiting us again, and allowing us the opportunity to redeem ourselves and to that end, we would be very grateful if you would contact us directly on the occasion of your next visit to the area.

Once again, please accept our sincere apologies to you for the obvious disappointment caused and indeed our thanks to you for bringing the matters to our attention.
Sincerely

We only spent one night at this hotel due to time restrictions The staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The picturesque rock formation near the restaurant was an added attraction. Breakfast was great. The situation was close to the city centre. Secure, free parking was a short walk away from the hotel.
