As others have said, this hostel is on a steep hill, but once you are in and settled, it is easy to go down the hill and head to the areas you will want to see. This location is an easy walk to shopping, restaurants and the bus station (if you want to do day trips to Blarney or Killarney). The hostel staff is very helpful and nice, the wi-fi in the common room is reliable, and the rooms are clean. As is often the case, there were some loud parties on the weekends, but it did seem like everyone respected the rules about not being loud after 11. It's a good place to stay at a reasonable price.

We stayed in a two bed private, but with shared bathroom. Room is pretty small, but how much time are you spending there anyway? Bathrooms were kept. Staff was super nice. Downside, if you have a car you need to park it at the train station and is like $9 euro/24 hours and it is a decent hike up the hill back to the hostel.
Lots of good places to eat and drink around the hostal and is a short walk to the main town area.

The rooms are available at great rates and the location is perfect! The staff at shelias are also very friendly and helpful. This hostel is perfect if you are just looking for a cheap room and not expecting a 5 star hotel!

the rooms were as pokey as hell, when we got bk to our room someone was sleeping in my bed. then we were changed to a different room with no toilet... it was fine until 3 weirdo's came bk to the room I was sleeping and they were on about preforming a exorcism on me saying I was possessed because I was snoring and he then was talking about tying to impregnate me and suffocate me,, he banged things and there was two girls kissing and he turned off and on the light saying it was a disco, petrified to move I waited until morning because I pretended I was asleep and the manager said when I complained, WHAT DI U WANT ME TO DO???? OMG worst place ever disgusting smell also

I very highly recommend Sheila's hostel in Cork, Ireland. The staff is excellent: friendly, helpful, and professional. The rooms are clean, the beds are firm, and I had a very good deal for an extended stay: single room en suite for 25 euro a night. Sheila's has a full kitchen with two refrigerators, baskets for keeping non-perishables, sinks, cooking burners, microwave, and a full complement of dishes and cookware. A special plus is a large hot water heater for making coffee or tea all day, and French presses are available for coffee. Grocery stores are within easy walking distance, including a handy convenience store a block or so away and a nice full grocery with great produce about three blocks away. Sheila's is only a few blocks from the city bus station and 10 minutes' walk from the train station, so it's easy to get around the south of Ireland. There's a lovely wildlife park 15 minutes away by train, and the port of Cobh, one of the main Irish emigration ports with a great heritage center, is just 25 minutes by train. If I'm in Cork again, Sheila's is where I'll stay.
