In Cork overnight for the Imelda May concert in The Marquee,we randomly selected this hotel for our stay. From the moment we entered the foyer on arrival until we departed the following day we were met with courteous and efficient staff. Our room was plush and breakfast was delicious. The location is very central and the locals are super-friendly. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel and will definately stay there again if we ever find ourselves down that way in the future.

Stayed at The Gresham Metropole in June 2010, the location is great, on the same street there is a few good pubs and restaurants, you can also walk around the city form this base. The hotel was very clean and the room in which I stayed very spacious for a single. I would stay here again in the future.

This hotel has an old charm and is conveniently located with plenty of restaurants nearby. We arrived from the Cork Airport and then went to Galway after a few days, and both coach station and bus stop are just minutes away. Our room was not too big but with that price, it was totally acceptable.

There is one car rental company opposite the street which offers excellent service though possibly not the best price (as we haven't booked in advance for car pickup at the airport). Would recommend this hotel to anybody.

This hotel is ideally located near the city centre. For anyone who is using the bus to get to cork city this hotel is just over the bridge. They have their name on the back of the hotel, so you will see the name from the bus station. You go over the bridge and up Bridge St and just around the corner on MacCurtain St you will see The Gresham. It's across the street a bit from the Isaac’s hotel.

Across the street from the hotel there is a supermarket which is opened till midnight. So this is handy for anyone who wants a snack. There are also 3 fish and chip shops on this maccurtain street if you feel like a snack after a night out.

The hotel itself is very beautiful. They have 3 double doors in front of the building. The entrance is open and spacious.

Upon arrival around 3.30 we were dealt with very efficiently. Since we had paid already in advance, the girl on duty gave us the time of breakfast and told us about the gym and pool facilities. That's the first time I can say I have ever been impressed by the front of house staff in a hotel, usually they are always grumpy and unfriendly.

When we got to the room, it was nice and spacious, loads of hangers, a hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities. They also had the complimentary items in the bathroom. It was a very beautiful bathroom, very spacious and a large window also which was easy to open and close. They also had an ironing board and iron which totally impressed me.

Also I noticed that we didn't hear noises from any of the other guests on our floor, so either they have great soundproofing or the rest of the people on the floor were quite. Also we weren't able to hear the shower in other rooms in the morning which was great when you wanted to lie in pass 9am.

Over all I was very impressed with it, and would recommend this hotel to friends and family and when I visit cork again I will be staying here. It's so worth the money.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor and we were facing the back which mean it was very quite. Didn't hear any noice.

First the good things:
Great location, plenty of resturants and bars nearby, and five minutes walk to the city centre with shops and more bars and restaurants.
Large and clean rooms (I paid an extra couple of quid for an exec room).
Fitness centre on site - I've done a couple of classes here and have heard the pool is nice.
Good value for the rooms & location.

Now the bad things:
Noise. This is unavoidable given the location with main roads at the front and back of the building. With no aircon, you may need to leave windows open at night....
Had to wait ages at reception in the morning. When lots of people are checking out, you need more than one member of staff to handle the workload!
The food - OK, it's not bad, but I thought the burger I had at the bar was overpriced and not great.

I've stayed here before and will do again, but will probably eat out.
