After being turned away from 4 other B&B's along the same road, we tried the Achill House for a place to stay. My wife and I stayed here 1 night. A ring on the doorbell and we were greeted by a younger woman, that didn't really introduce herself (still not sure what her name is). She stated that they had a room available. We were led upstairs to look at the room and agreed to stay the night. She then walked away and we left to grab luggage. We were given a key, and that was pretty much it. No real explanation or anything. Kind of a cold reception.
The room was clean, but slightly dated and "tired" looking. It was average, and was good enough for a night stay. We had a decent breakfast in the morning, and then were on our way. I would probably look elsewhere if you want nice digs for a few nights stay in the Cork area. If you need a place for a night or two, this would work. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room, so it was fine. Compared to the other B&B's we stayed in on our trip, the Achill House was slightly lacking.More
