“Enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

We booked a bay view room but found we were located in a room overlooking the street which was quite stuffy and loud with traffic and they moved us quickly and efficiently. Gert is a pleasure to deal with and all the staff are friendly in this hotel. The manager of the bar and staff were equally very helpful and friendly. Good chat with the manager when the bar was quiet one evening. Cosy hotel. Would love to see the dark wood brightened up with lighter paint colours as it would lift its look as it feels dated and a wee bit depressing around the corridors of the restaurant and function rooms. Our bay room was lovely and its worth paying the extra to have that view especially at dawn if you are awake! Breakfast was fine --adequate. I didnt touch the rashers or sausages they didnt appeal to me but wasnt offered extra anything else so got the bare breakfast of tomato scrambled egg and beans - same quantity as anyone else having the full works. I would have gone back up if I wanted more - thought I best see how I got on first! Great hot pot of tea which is perfect and hot toast! No extras like scones or croissants and no mention of poached eggs but I am sure they will cook them if asked. Dinner was excellent - we were on a package and were offered the value against the a la carte if we wished which was a brilliant idea. Lovely ambience in the dining room. We were sorry we didnt dine here again on our second night as we had a disaster in a pub restaurant instead but c'est la vie! Value for money at this hotel and very central hence the name!

Room Tip: Bay view room and pay the extra. Rooms over the front will be noisy early morning and throughout the...

Dear Ann Marie,
It's always such a pleasure when a guest mentions one of our team & I know Gert will be thrilled to hear such praise. Thank you for your high praise of Gert & the rest of the team, our staff are always trying to go above & beyond for our guests. Whist the season is often very busy our staff always find the time to smile & engage with our guests in the most professional & friendly Manner. Thank your for our kind comments regarding breakfast & dinner, yes poached eggs are available upon request from our dining staff. I will certainly pass on your comments to our head chef , He is always thrilled to hear positive feedback.

We hope your think of us again the next time you are in Donegal so we have the pleasure to welcome you back again

Kind & Warm Regards

Stayed here for 4 nights as part of a David Urquart coach holiday, the hotel is in an ideal location with easy access to shops and bars. The room was large with a double and single bed and was clean, the only down side was a view of other windows but others had a really nice view of the water. One of the best things obout this hotel is the Irish night on a tuesday, it was BRILLIANT and made the holiday more memorable

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to write your review , we generally appreciate all feedback from our guests, Through this we are able to always better our service. Thank your for your kind words regarding the beautiful surrounding of our area. Its like living in a little piece of heaven especially in the summer months. I'm glad you took advantage of our free WiFi service which we newly installed this year for our guests . I'm sorry to learn you were disappointed in breakfast & having No Air Con, Ill pass your comments onto our Kitchen team & ask them to review the choices on offer. Regarding the Air Con unfortunately we very seldom get as good a summer as we are currently experiencing & usually are guests need extra heaters as apposed to Air Con. But we will certainly review that should the weather continue to hold up.

We look forward to welcoming back soon to The Central Hotel

Kind & Warm Regards

Wonderful older style hotel in a great town. Situated on Donegal Bay many rooms have nice water views. It is also located on the town square so everything is just a short walk away. Centrally located in the County you are a short drive from some of the worlds best scenery like Slievgh Leauge Cliffs, Killybegs Harbor and Glenveigh National Park to name a few. The rooms were large, comfortable and quiet. Service was wonderful. Would hihgly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for water view

The Central is in a great location. Parking is available in a parking lot a short walk away. Was pleasantly surprised at the size of the Hotel and it's endless character. Our room was amazing! It was in the back overlooking the lake with a beautiful view. The room was huge and clean. Good size modern bath, entryway room and bedroom was big enough to spread out with luggage. We didn't eat at the restaurant but nice to have if we didn't want to venture out.

Room Tip: Our room had huge windows overlooking the lake and an Abby ruin. It was tranquil and perfect for re...

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at The Central Hotel. It was a great break. The choice of food was very good. Buffet style breakfast and at night 3 starters to choose from, 3 main courses ( meat, fish or vegetarian) and 3 desserts. Our room was kept very clean and had everything we needed in it. The staff were all very nice and nothing was to much bother for them, they worked long hours but always had a smile on their face and time for a chat. The hotel is in a perfect spot and Donegal itself is a lovely town with plenty to do. People there are so friendly. We would certainly recommend it as a place to stay and will definitely be back. Lynne and Gordon.

Spent 4 nights here on a shearings holiday, our room was a bit small but very clean and everythink you needed, the food in the hotel was really good, and all the staff were all pleasant and helpful, the town gets quite noisy at night so you should ask for a room at the back.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite, they are very good,
