Hi, I spent one night here recently in a Deluxe room. Firstly, the room - amazing! Really spacious with separate bar/lobby etc and a fantastic jacuzzi bath which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was slightly disappointed with the level of cleanliness, I dropped an earring back on the floor in the seating area in the room and had to get down on my hands and knees to find it, discovered quite a lot of dirt which hadn't been hoovered up. We had a view of the car park which wasn't ideal either. The weather when we went was awful which meant we couldn't appreciated the grounds as we would have liked, unfortunately. I did find the corridors of the hotel a bit long and cold, it made the hotel feel like there was no-one there. We had an evening meal and mine arrived cold. I wasn't too bothered about it but the maitre'd spotted it uneaten on my plate and couldn't apologise enough. He even found us the next morning along with the flamboyant manager Noel and apologised profusely and took it off our bill. Great service all round. The breakfast was gorgeous but the serving areas were a bit small and cramped. The fresh smoothies were gorgeous! All in all a lovely place although a bit pricey, I don't normally go to hotels which don't have leisure facilities and would like to see them at this hotel. I would consider going back again in better weather to appreciate the gorgeous grounds. Hopefully the restaurant will have been refurbished by then and we won't have to sit with a view of a building site when eating breakfast!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the lake.

Just returned from a two night stay, which was exceptional in almost every respect. The staff do appear to be focussed on making sure that an enjoyable stay is provided and were pleasant and attentive. We had expressed some concern before arriving about the impact of some renovations which we were informed about by email. It became clear when we arrived that the Manager had actually noted our concerns and he responded by paying genuine attention to our stay –without ever being intrusive…really, really impressive for an Irish Hotel. Also impressive that after initially checking in, I was almost always referred to by name. The rooms were excellent and the food enjoyable. It was also great to find a hotel bar without a television/televisions blaring pointlessly in a corner. If I had one criticism, it would be the ubiquitous inappropriate background music…it didn’t quite qualify as “Muzak”, but it came close. I have no problem with Leonard Cohen or Jim Reeves but neither enhance a Lakeside view. The décor, food, ambience and hospitality had all been well thought out…give some thought to the Music or turn it off. However I would not want to create any impression other than that this was probably the finest Irish Hotel experience which we have had for many years.

Dear Guest,

It was our pleasure to welcome you to Harvey's Point recently and it is great to learn that you enjoyed an exceptional experience. This means so much to us, especially as we understood your concern prior to arrival due to the renovations to our restaurant.

Noel our General Manager and his Team have pulled out all the stops to ensure seamless service to our guests during this period. Thankfully the work is almost complete and we know our guests will be delighted with the end result which is a beautifully upgraded dining room.

Fair point in relation to the music choice and we have now secured the expertise of a sound man who will choose music to reflect and enhance the lovely ambiance of the hotel.

Thank you for your kind words of praise and your high recommendation. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back again sometime in the future.

Kind regards,

Deirdre & Marc, Noel & Team

Harvey's Point Hotel is excellent in every way. The room was excellent, executive suite. Pure luxury. Will definitely be back again. Everything was well thought out for a luxury, romantic room. I recommend this hotel to everyone. The staff are very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. The food was superb. Would love to go back in the summertime to enjoy the beautiful countryside beside the lough. One night is not long enough though to stay in this superb hotel. Can't wait to go back for another stay. Dear Geraldine,

Thank you most sincerely for your lovely review. We really enjoyed having you as our guests. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back in the Summer for a relaxing, romantic leisure break. You won’t be disappointed with the amazing wild and rugged Donegal countryside and the many attractions in our area such as Slieve League (the highest cliff face in Europe), Glenveigh National Park, Donegal Bay Waterbus etc.

Best wishes from the Gysling Family & Team.

I had been looking forward to this visit for a long time. At €500 per person, if was far from cheap and I have to say we were very disappointed.

Good points: friendly reception staff, large spacious rooms, beautiful bathroom with jacuzzi

Bad points: the food-very disappointing. The dinner food was average at best. Breakfast was barely mediocre. Definitely not what I'd expect from a 4/5 star hotel, especially the mouldy toast which we had to send back (no apology given!), the lake walks- badly signposted and impassible in places, the bar- bright, bold and unwelcoming.

Some staff were lovely, others barely served us. Prices for drinks changed on every round to the point where we had to request a receipt each time to be sure we were being charged correctly.

All in all, we won't be going back and it's such a shame. I had such high hopes.

We will be back to Solis lough Eske hotel or lough Erne located a short distance away next time!

Dear Guest,

It is with regret that I learn of your disappointment in relation to your recent visit to Harvey's Point. We genuinely try our best to impress our guests and if for whatever reason, we don't achieve this objective then we make a full investigation into the matter.
First and foremost, thank you for sharing details of your experience as in this way we can address the issues you have highlighted. We appreciate your kind compliments in relation to our friendly reception staff and our suites.

To be honest, I am struggling to ascertain how your bill amounted to €500 per person, given that our Bed & Breakfast rates in January were in the region of €79 to €99 per person sharing per night. I would very much welcome the opportunity to discuss this and the other issues with you in the hope that we could restore your faith in Harvey's Point.

Rest assured that each and every point you referred to will receive our full attention, in particular the lack of uniformity in our service standards, which while most unusual is not acceptable.

Your comment in relation to the bar is fair and valid and we are delighted that Harvey's Bar has just received a new lighting system which has improved the ambience considerably and together with the roaring fire, it is now much more cosy and welcoming in keeping with the general theme of Harvey's Point.

On behalf of the Gysling Family, Noel our General Manager and our entire Team, I hope you will accept our most sincere apologies. Noel or I are contactable anytime at your convenience.

Your sincerely,

Deirdre

My girlfriend and I visited Harvey's point at Christmas time for a night stay. The hotel is very nice and the staff are very nice and helpful. The rooms in this hotel are amazing!!! They are massive and very well fitted. We did not get a lakeside room but we still had a very good view of the lake from our window. Breakfast in the morning was also first class, very tastey and you could have as much as you wanted. This hotel excellent and I recommend it highly for anyone to visit.

We've just returned from another fabulous weekend at Harvey's point. As is the norm at Harvey's (I think this is out seventh visit) the rooms, the staff & the views are all so very welcoming. Noel Cunningham is an especially welcoming & friendly host. My only concern is around the food we ordered on the first night of our stay. While it is classified as 'bar food' I found it to be below the usual standard of previous years & we both found this quite disappointing. The food was luke warm verging on cold and was not of the same quality or standard that we enjoyed previously. I truly love this hotel & I'm hoping that maybe next year the food will return to it's usual high standard.
