“Meals at Harvey's Point.”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Anyone who has not had a meal at Harvey's Point has really missed out. The meals are second to none and if you are ever lucky enough to be invited to a wedding reception there, it is an experience you will never forget. We went to lunch last Sunday and although it was very crowded as usual, we were welcomed on arrival and made to feel special. The atmosphere is very relaxed and all the staff are so friendly and helpful.
The starters, mains, and sweets are out of this world and I would advise anyone to have a long walk after their meal in the beautiful gardens overlooking the Loch .
Hope to be back soon.

From the minute you walk into the hotel its total relaxation. Staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in Lakeshore Suite, was more like our own small apartment; four poster bed, free standing bath & shower, living/dining area, big balcony overlooking gardens & lake. There was a wedding on our first night but to be honest we hardly heard any noise from the reception. Breakfast is to die for, try one of their made to order omelettes. Room service is great and not that much extra if want to make your stay extra special. Looking forward to going back again.

Booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary. Stayed 2 nights and we loved it. The lake suite was very comfortable and roomy and we appreciated the comfortable facilities. We had a gorgeous meal in the restaurant on our first night, really enjoyed the black pudding with ice cream starter and duck. Make room for dessert, I had the chocolate and peanut parfait. Amazing discreet service also.

We've just returned from a long weekend stay at this hotel, our 4th visit. There is not much to complain about here - the surroundings, the rooms, the staff and the food exceed expectations. Another plus point is that they welcome dogs, and not in inferior rooms as I have experienced elsewhere, but beautiful lakeside rooms which have their own living room and private veranda.
There are miles of walks which can be taken right from the front gates of the hotel (the hotel will supply you with information) but the location is also ideal to explore the rest of Donegal and beyond into Fermanagh.
Harvey's Point is not a budget hotel but it is great value for money - so you may pay more but you won't regret it - I would defy anyone to be hungry after their breakfast and it's lovely to get a smile and greeting from every member of staff from the cleaners to the owners.
Everyone should treat themselves to a stay here if they get the opportunity, I am already planning my next trip.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with your dog you will be allocated a lakeside room but if you are staying in...

I had heard great reviews about harveys point and after a recent stay with my husband we can truly say we were not disappointed. The hotel was beautiful and had a lovely atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond and were extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we booked the hotel to checking out. We stayed in a deluxe suite which was absolutely beautiful, spacious and had a fabulous bathroom. The food was also beautiful. We had a lovely experience at Harveys point and look foward to staying again.

This is the best hotel I've stayed at so far in Ireland. We stayed in the standard room but upon entering the room I had to double check that I hadn't booked an executive suite because it was so nice. It was one of the biggest rooms I've ever stayed in. The bathroom was huge with a big jacuzzi tub (although the thought of filling up the tub with "bog water" didn't seem appealing). The king size bed was very comfortable and most importantly the room was very clean. My only complaint was that the room was a little stuffy. We adjusted the thermostat but it didn't seem to help.

The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The location is not too far from Donegal town and the lake setting is lovely.

Dear Guest,

Sincere thanks for your delightful review. It gives us great pleasure to welcome new and repeat guests to Harvey's Point. We appreciate all guest feedback as it assists us in measuring our performance and in addressing any issues that may arise.

We note and accept your comment about the bog water. We will continue to look for a solution to this. The water is professionally treated and is totally safe to use but we just can't get the 'bog' out of it. (However, it's fair to say that it is actually good for the skin).

The summer weather has been quite warm at times although the high temperatures are no longer an issue!

We are truly delighted that you have discovered Donegal and Harvey's Point and we hope that you have brought many happy memories home.

Kind regards,

The Gysling Family, Noel & Team.

I have been going to this hotel for a few years now although because of circumstances it must be two years since I last stayed for a break.
On returning to a venue one is always wondering will it be as good or because of the pressure to cut back will it have deteriorated. Not Harvey's Point ,we arrived early the room was not ready but this was because we changed the room type and in an effort to give us what we had requested it took a little longer. customer satisfaction is so important and here the staff went the extra mile when all the time I said don't worry its not the end of the world.
The food is as good as ever if not even better, and the dining room has been extended and refurbished to make the experience something else, already to day I have recommended the hotel to two different people one who intended to go to another location but will now be booking Harvey's Point, the power of another satisfied customer.
To those who want something different I say try this place and if your disappointed then I think there will be no pleasing of you, admittedly its a little more expensive than many who claim to be as good, but this is rewarded with excellence.
My only disappointment was that I didn't get to see my old friend Sean who was off , I think it was Danny if I am correct who served us in the evening he is worthy of a mention.

Room Tip: go the extra and upgrade to a better room, all rooms are good but the little things make a differenc...
